Default Rock pioneer Bo Diddley dies at age 79

"Bo Diddley, a founding father of rock 'n' roll whose distinctive "shave and a haircut, two bits" rhythm and innovative guitar effects inspired legions of other musicians, died Monday after months of ill health. He was 79."

Yes, a pioneer and a major influence on nearly all rockers, plus a far better musician than most of us ever realized. Even though he is known for his innovative guitar, he also had a great rhythmic touch on piano and played violin, although he only used the violin on one recording.
I remember during my junior-high days that I would save my lawn-mowing money and race my friends to the record shop every time Bo had a release coming out. The only record I treasured more than my Bo Diddleys was my record of "I Put a Spell on You" by Screamin Jay Hawkins.

Kat, we saw him at the Eureka Springs (AR) about 6 or 7 years ago..... it was awesome!

Also noticed in yesterday's paper that Yves St. Laurent died......

And who can forget the Bo Jackson commercials.

My favorite one was when he was trying to play the guitar, and Bo Diddley told Jackson: "Bo, you don't know Diddley......"
