Default Tim Russert

I just got finished writing notes to my NBC friends about Tim Russert. No, I did not know him, but I've certainly spent the last 24 hours wishing that I had. He was obviously one of the good guys around here.

It's not an exaggeration to say the country will miss him.

He succeeded at the ultimate balancing act: tough, fair, friendly, decent. He'll go down with the best of them, including Mr. Murrow.

I've spent the last 24 hours watching the tributes to Tim. He truly must have been a wonderful man. I agree that the country will miss him!

Truly shocking and heart breaking. When first we heard yesterday afternoon, my wife and I were crestfallen.

Not only a top of the line journalist but an outstanding family man who oviously harbored a premier value sytem, he'll be sorely missed.

Wouldn't we all like to leave this world, with the same kind, loving words spoken about him. We lost a good one.

I sort of feel like I've lost a family member. I was always amazed to see him on The Today show on the mornings after the primaries....knowing he'd been up late for the results but there he'd be with Matt and Meredith.

One of the best ever. He set a standard for others to follow. He died much too young.

Regards,
Thomas

DItto to all of the above. We too, will certainly miss his interviews, and his ability to put thing in their proper place in life. May he rest in peace.

I just watched the tribute to Tim, and thought, from the powerful to the common man, he was held in such high esteem. The people that eulogized him, gave him such beautiful tributes..I especially liked Mike Barnicles & Maria Shrivers stories...

His son stood tall and proud, a true legacy to his Father and Grandfather.

I also agree with what has been said. We were so shocked that it was like losing a member of the family. He was someone we watched and knew he was not trying to cutesy or nasty just to get a story. You just knew after watching him that what he said was the truth. I can't imagine the saddness and loss his wife, son and father feel now.

On the news tonight his wife had said that before he left for work she told him she wanted to hug him because she might not ever see him again. She said she just had a feeling. That gave me the chills.
