Default Parents Say The Smartest Things ..We Just Don't Realize...

what they mean at the time. .but when we get older and become parents, we wish we had listen as it all comes back to us

"Be careful what you wish for, it may not be what you really wanted:

"What's good TO you is not all the time good FOR you"

Two of my Mother's favorite expressions..What were your parents insightful quotes that you didn't understand at the time but rings true now

I copied the following over 40 years ago and I try to read it most days:

"This is the beginning of a new day. I have been given this day to use as I will. I can waste it or use it for good. What I do today is important, because I am exchanging a day of my life for it. When tommorow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving in its place whatever I may have traded for it.

I pledge to myself that it shall be gain not loss; good not evil; success not failure; in order that I shall not regret the price I paid for this day"

My mother always used to tell me she had eyes in the back of her head, and for years I tried to find them.
It was only after I became a parent that I knew what she was talking about!

Mom always told my brothers that their kids will do to them what they did to her. Ironically, my sister and I did not get into much trouble. We were too busy baby sitting our brothers.
