Default Another amazing situation at sea

This mind boggling situation is just so tragic. This man had to be on some major drugs.

Oddly, the picture of the ship they show, is, the Old Celebrity Meridian. Someone didn't do their homework.....

1. Attempted Suicide
2. When that failed: Suicide By Cop

The news organization went to the archive and pulled a stock picture of a cruise ship out. I think they need to update the archives.

A sad story but "suicide by cop" happens far too often and has devastating effects not only on the family of the person committing suicide but also the law enforcement officer(s) that are involved.

Take care,
Mike

Many times... too many... I had been confronted by a person who had a death wish. It is unnerving to stand before a person, who is combative and a threat to yourself, and have your weapon pulled and armed to possibly take his life. So many things go through your mind... "Oh no, why are you doing that, don't do this now, just put the carp down, where is my help, I don't want to shoot him, etc. "

I am very thankful that I never, EVER had to discharge my weapon in the line of duty. Could I have done it? A resounding yes! And I never would have thought twice. But I never wanted to. People really get crazy and challenge an officer to shoot them. That is why I am happy that tasers are used now. I have tased people and... before you all jump on the flame throwing box... I have been tased myself and I am fully aware of the feelings that it invokes and the damage it can incite. Tasers are great in these kind of situations now.

In this story, a taser should have been used on the man pulled from the bay.

Well that is silly to put an cruise ship on the story. Hornblower is a dining yacht, you can't sleep on it. I have been on these ships if a dinner cruise, a mother's day brunch, and a wedding. I don't know the answer to this: If the man is wet what will the taser do? Could it be a danger? Maybe that is why the officer had to use his gun. From the story the shooting seems justfied the man was a bodybuilder and was beating the officer with a stun gun. I wonder if one of his fellow passengers slipped something into his drink.
