remember, once on youtube, it will be permanent, so unless you want your grandchildren to see it , be careful

as for DTW, it only adds to his growing legend..don't be surprise if you see him on the BLOG2NOLA cruise with his girlfriend Brittany Spears

You can delete youtube videos.

I would not mind a youtube video of myself dancing on a cruiseship. My grandkids would be able to see that back in the day grandma was the queen of the dance floor. Instead of my kids telling their kids grandma was a good dancer they can see for themselves!

I never heard or did the Funky Chicken dance. But it looks like fun I'll try it.

Do you have to wear a funky chicken hat on your head like in this video?

Hey CC what do think about the funky chicken hat?? I guess it would not be a bad thing if I'm having a bad hair day!

CQ.. that looks like the "Half Baked Chicken Dance" to me :::: and you would need alot more soul and I would have to have alot more drinks of the day, to do that in public :::: (now maybe DTW would dance with you on that number in his Saturday Night Fever outfit)

Rufus Thomas did the "Funky Chicken"..see if you can find that on youtube
8) 8) please
and while you are at it , can you post the clip from the movie "Love at 1st Bite "with George Hamilton dancing to "I Love The Night Life"...we can practice and dance on the ship...I'll bring my Dracula cape and Fangs..what is your blood type again ::::

who needs Arthur Murray or dance classes when you have youtube::

I really enjoyed the comments and the fun banter back and forth. I absolutely love to dance, especially on cruise ships with the wonderful variety of music. Been taking lessons now for over seven years (yes mostly at Arthur Murrays - not cheap but by far the best place for beginners to learn to dance). For me Yutube is great for picking up new moves.

I have always had an appreciation for all types of music, but dancing the V Waltz to Glenn Miller, a Cha-Cha to Santana, or an east-coast swing to Chuck Berry, and you feel the music in every part of you mind and body. Every dance is an amazing experience which combines healthy exercise for the body and mind. What a high!

My love of dance has been a big part of making each cruise a very memorable experience. I've met many ladies through cruise dancing, weather they danced or not. They all want to learn and I love showing them to do the hustle for instance on the 70s disco night or any other style. So who knows some day we could do a Salsa or Mombo on some future cruise or even the Chicken Dance or the Electric Slide. Who cares as long as we are dancing.

Here's to cruising and all of us that cruise......Jim H

on the Brilliance we danced to exactly three songs EVERY night...

The Electric Slide, the Cha-Cha Slide, and the Cupid Shuffle.

We freestyled to some and disco'ed it on disco night, and Greek danced on the Lido deck.

But we did those three EVERY night in the disco. 1) Because we knew how and 2) Because NO ONE ELSE was dancing most nights.

CrazySis..you are being soooooo modest I remember seeing you in the movie Saturday Night Fever, dancing next to John Travolta dancing to the song 'More Than A Woman To Me" and were not you the body double for the girl who had the crush on John and he kept ignoring her ::

CC & CQ & Jim.....you folks need to sign up for BLOG2NOLA...that way we can turn out the disco every night and I promise you will do more then those 3 dances every night...remember you are coming to New Orleans and we do know how to dance and have a great time

CC Not much of a dancing crowd in the disco on Brillance???

My last cruise the disco was taken over by the 19 year olds who were breakdancing the whole time so the DJ played breakdance music alot. Fun to watch breakdance but I'm not going there that is not for me! Had to stick with latin dancing since the disco was not playing my music I like to dance to.

We can call it BLOG2NOLA DANCE CRUISE! 8)

I have seen folks that just meet on the ship they get on the dance floor and look like they were dancing together their whole life.

Well I'll have to check out Kuki's Twist routine on BLOG2NOLA DANCE CRUISE.

no, not much dancing crowd on the Brilliance except a couple of nights.

however, on the Carnival Destiny in March, I tore it up every night in the disco from 12-3 a.m. with a guy I met on the second night and we moved together like we had known each other our whole lives. It was a blast!

wonder what Kuki thinks of the dancers taking over the BLOG2NOLA cruise?? haha

Good for you CC sounds like you did alot of dancing on Destiny!

That was my point exactly! Two people that meet for the first time hit the dance floor and can dance very well together like they practiced for years.

I'm sure Kuki and crew won't mind the dancers taking over!
After all we are well behaved cruisers!

Hey, plastic surgeons can work wonders for those who really do have such deformities! ;-)

Seriously, I started ballroom dancing in college, where I participated in teaching as a member of the ballroom dance club. I have yet to meet anybody who really wanted to learn to dance for whom such alleged deformities ever were a serious obstacle.

That said, the initial learning curve in ballroom dancing is somewhat steep because there is much to get right -- dance posture, styling, technique, footwork, leading (men) or following (ladies), etc. -- when one first starts. Many people need two or three weeks to master a few elementary steps of their first dance because they have to incorporate all of these elements, but the rest follows to come more quickly because the subsequent material will employ what you have already learned.

So I have two recommendations for beginners.

>> 1. Stop procrastinating and get started. The sooner you start, the sooner you will master it, and with mastery comes much enjoyment!

>> 2. Be patient with yourself, especially in the first few weeks. The time to build a solid foundation is time well spent!

Ballroom dancing is phenomenally good exercise that's a lot of fun. You really can do it!

Norm.

Well, it does take two to Tango....

But seriously, ballroom dancing is NOT like bridge, where partnerships develop various bidding conventions and signals to communicate with each other and everything depends upon a "partnership agreement" that does not carry from partnership to partnership. Rather, the conventions of leading and following are very standard in ballroom dancing. Thus, any man and any woman who are ballroom dancers should be able to dance together. The custom, in ballroom dancing, is to reserve the first dance and the last dance for one's date. In fact, many ballroom dance clubs hold "mixers" where ladies and gents queue on opposite sides of the room, the people at the front of which pair off, dance a lap around the floor, and return to the end of the pairing queue.

Norm.

I learn so much here at Cruisemates!!

Today I learned the Norm is a ballroom dancer! Who would of thought that!

Thanks for the recommendations!

And Yes Dancing is the best exercise. I was not seeing any results with my Step and Treadmill workout the scale always displayed the same number no matter how much I worked out and was killing my knees in the process. I added dance to my daily workout routine and after six weeks I have lost 10 pounds. I'm so happy.

CQ...a lower 9th ward street party complete with a New Orleans Brass Band and food & drink is a whole lot more fun then a disco (plus it's free)...yeah baby ..the celebration is when the neighborhood is rebuilt as you will see when you come next Feb

I use to live in New Jersey so i am aware of the "garden spots" in your state...I'm going to have to work on you to gain a different perspective of what a true party is New Orleans style
