Looks like we have escaped the worst of Gustav. It seems we are just outside all those bands of rain, for now anyway. It is quiet windy though. Some predictions say we will have gust up to 50mph today. If the rain holds off we may take a drive to the beach to check out the surf, no not in it, just to watch it. I hope all those to our west are going to be okay as Gustav makes his landfall. Everyone else have a great Labor Day.

Good Morning All. Happy Labor Day!!! I will spend the day working. I also watch tv keeping track of Gustav. My daughter lives in Houma La. The storm is predicted to hit Houma so I sit and worry. Florida has been relatively lucky so far this year. Lakeland had a very light brush with TS Fay. The storm that had no idea where she was going!. I hope all have a great Labor Day holiday.

Morning all, from Montreal, where we are enjoying much the same weather as Trip - the beautiful weather we didn't have all summer!
It will be a day of rest in the sun for me; feeling a little stronger every day.
Watching Gustav coverage on CNN. All of you in the threatened areas, please stay safe, and report in here if you can so we know you're OK!
We too are enjoying a fabulous day. I have been trying to get house ready for company. I feel like getting a dumpster and just throwing out about 75 percent of the stuff in here. I need to move, that would really motivate me to get rid of a lot of stuff.
Have to leave soon to drive to the bus station to pick up my friend. It is about a two hour drive to the station. I still have some dusting to do as well as shower and dress. A couple of errands need to be taken care of along the way. I have a ton to do this week, and not sure that I can be the best hostess. I hope he does not want to be entertained, as I am just not up to that task.
Have tv on while I am puttering from room to room. Certainly listening to all the Hurricane coverage. I was in disbelief to see people that had loaded their whole family onto their shrimp boats in Houma to wait out the storm. Children included. I guess they all want to meet the same fate, whatever it may be.
Wishing everyone a great day, be it a day off or a work day...
Good Morning cruisemates! Had a golf game scheduled for this morning, but when I woke up it was 40 degrees F , so I passed.
Mrs. Kuki is working today, so for her it is Labor Day. Guess I'll watch some of the Gustav coverage, and just keep the fingers and toes crossed that it's a non event.
Good Morning All from Colorado,
I enjoyed sleeping in today. Our rains have stopped and the sun is shinning again. We are having a quiet day of catching up. I will have to run to school to do a bit of prep for a new week of first graders.
Mike, thanks for your post about the Minnesota State Fair. It brings back fond memories of growing up in Minnesota and being in 4H. Do they still carve the Dairy Princesses out of butter? As a child, that was facinating to watch.
To all of you in the path of the hurricane our prayers are with you. Be safe. May it somehow pass without much distruction.
Happy Labor Day to all.

Good afternoon from sunny and beautiful, Virginia Beach. I was lazy this morning and got up past 9:00 a.m. since I worked until 11:00 p.m. last night. Today I cleaned out my closet and will take the clothing to the thrift store tomorrow. I must admit that I tend to be a pack rat! May all my fellow cruisemates have a wonderful Labor Day and our thoughts and prayers go out to those in the Gulf Coast area affected by the hurricane.
Good afternoon from East Tennessee and a Happy Labor Day to all.
We're spending a quiet day here at home watching the hurricane coverage. It sounds as if the weather in most of the rest of the country (if not the Northwest where Sharon is), is perfect for a cookout.
