Just wanted to let you know James is home, and happy to be home in time to see the hockey game tonight!
He finally saw a doctor after 5 1/2 hours, had some blood tests, X-rays, and a CT scan. Then he waited (slept actually) another 4 hours for results.
Basically, they don't find anything wrong, other than sluggish bowels and a lot of gas due to the anesthesia and the pain killers.
That's what we thought it was, but we needed to be sure.
He was given the choice to stay overnight, or go home and try to "walk off" some of the gas and get the bowels moving. As the pain is bearable now, of course he chose to go home!
Will keep you posted....
Donna, great news about James. There is nothing like recovering at home compared to a hospital.
Sorry to hear he had so much trouble from the operation. When I had mine in 2006, it was a piece of cake. As I mentioned to James on the cruise.........I came home from surgery in the afternoon and slept most of the time. Next day I took it real easy and didn't do anything to mess things up. I guess it's true, everyone reacts differently to operations.
I'll be praying for James to have a good night and a quick recovery in the coming days.
Let me also say I am so pleased that James is home and his tests turned out alright. Darn it, didn't he realize that when I told him to take it easy it wasn't a request but an order....from a total physical wreck!
To heck with Venice's White Castles. Somewhere around Montreal there has to be a little old Italian that makes his own wine. That for sure will rid him of his gas pains and free up his bowels. If it doesn't, with an alcohol content of probably 30%, he won't care anyway!
Give him my best! And as for you young lady.....you'd best start taking care of yourself as well!
RD, hope that james feels better tomorrow. The nurses in the hospital way back when I had my surgery had me get on my hands and knees with butt in the air, it does something to move things around, and it really does help with the gas pains. Please take care of yourself also.
