I spent Saturday watching The O.C. burn. A nice lunch at King's Fish House in Orange, CA never materialized. As we drove down the 57 Freeway South, instead of seeing the usual panorama of green expanse and real estate developments, we saw two huge fires looming close. The fire burned on both sides of the freeway with no fire dept. tending it.
We cut our drive short and had lunch at the Oliver Garden. What should have been about a 20-minute drive home took three hours. The freeway systems were either shut down totally or bumper to bumper.
There are four fires currently and they are being fanned by winds and single-digit humidity. The air quality is awful and the devastation is really sad. So many beautiful homes gone!
Fire, that's not something we usually see around these parts.
Hope you are far enough away to be safe from harm, and that at least you enjoyed yuor lunch out today!
Dear Judy,
So often we hear of these fires. Your report puts a real connection to it.
In Colorado we have seen some horiffic fires. Even years later, the sad
scenes remain.
Judy, we hope you are doing okay. I know these past two months have been lifechanging for you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Judy, hope you stay safe. Those fires are so devastating. I can't even watch them on TV. To lose everything you own so quickly. Hopefully everyone will be safe. Prayers to all.
That is surely very scary. I have been watching it on the news. Unbelievable really, if you didnt see it, you cannot imagine it.
