Default Venice Has Really Bad Flooding

in the online USA Today edition it has pictures of the flooding in Venice Italy..worse in 20 years..reminds me of New Orleans after Katrina..

to raise my house would cost me almost as much as when I built it 10 years ago ..when i build my "dream house" it will be elevated

Yes, I sure hate to see such a beautiful city flooded. St. Marks Square was completely under water. BUMMER. Well, they've been there before, and probably will again. They will survive.

Several years back we were in Venice in late Oct. and rainy season. They are used to a bit of flooding, as during our visit they set up a "sidewalk" of thoussands of rectangular tables around St Mark's Plaza for people to walk on.

Obviously this time it flooded so much it covered the tables.

Makes ya wonder about the logic of rebuilding repeatedly in areas that will definitely flood again.
