T'was the Night Before Christmas
Of 2008
Not a creature was stirring,
But I was up very late.
For I'd forgotten to write my poem this year
Too much on my mind,
My thoughts were not clear.
I thought about CruiseMates, all snug in their beds
While visions of buffets danced in their heads.
My hubby was snoring after a nightcap
He'd just settled down for a long winter's nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my computer to see what was the matter.
I looked out the window, and to my surprise
Coming up my front walk, were all of you guys!
There was Kuki and Trip, Doug and VTJen
Bahamamomma, Floridanamaw, Luanne and Mike M.
Then came Phyllbo and Delft, ready2gonow and Irish,
ToddDH, BeenieWeenie, jojob, and Venice.
More rapid than jetboats, those Cruisemates they came,
And I greeted them all, and called them by name:
Hi Judy & Keith, Lynn & Trevor, Helen & Ray,
James RT, CruzNut2, LS80 and Dave the Wave.
So I opened the door and let them in out of the cold
On their suitcases and carry ons, each one had a hold.
There were 2 Pauls, one Motter, one B,
There was ESS, susierphillips, katlady and cruisequeen.
The other Donna came too, with Lisa and Marc,
msblackjack and Sue, I could see in the dark.
There was Skymaster Ken and his lovely wife Vita,
SeaTrekker and Lombard, and Kuki's wife Geela.
So all of my CruiseMates friends were here in my house,
It was so crowded there was not even room for a mouse.
I thought to myself, what shall I do with them all?
Then it came to me, and I gave Nancy Bogart a call.
Nancy, I said, book a cruise for us all!
And all of us CruiseMates crowded into the hall,
While we made reservations for the first of the year,
To ring in the New Year with friends and good cheer.
So to all of my CruiseMates, I'd just like to say
Merry Christmas To All, and to All a Good Day!
donna (with apologies to anyone I might have forgotten!)
You have outdone yourself again this year Donna! Great job! I hope that you and all of our treasured CruiseMates have a blessed and wonderful holiday with their loved ones.
Very Nice! Thanks RD! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
And Merry Christmas to all Cruisemates and their families.

RD - I loved it you out did yourself. Just fantastic. Nancy, I and the boys want to wish all of our friends at Cruisemates A very Merry Christmas, and happy and blessed New Years.
Today is Christmas Eve so everyone is sleeping in and then my D/W will Begin cooking her famous and delceious dinner before she leaves early for church. She is the director of our parishes annual "Children's Mass" and then it is home and open a present (just one), then we go back to church for the midnight Mass where our boys (22 & 26) will join their friends to conduct the Mass. Then try and get some sleep before the boys wake us up bright and early as they have done for as long as I can remember.
Wishing y'all a Great Alabama Day.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!!!
May the friendships you make,
Be those which endure,
And all of your grey clouds
Be small ones for sure.
And trusting in Him
To Whom we all pray,
May a song fill your heart,
Every step of the way.
Today, I play catch up. Yesterday did not go according to plan.
DS's car had a dead batter, of course I was in the garage, and his car outside, so I was trapped.
Then when I did get to church, so many interruptions...another local news crew came to take video and interviews. There were two more shootings in the community. This time they hit the state police barracks - bullet went right thru the window - thank God it didn't hit any of the dispatchers.
The state police barracks is right beside our church.
They also shot up the Country Club - which is just behind my home. Which is scary. Needless to say the FBI showed up at church last night for more interviews with our pastor and the other pastors whose churches were hit. I am just so thankful that no one has been hurt thus far.
That is my only concern. Thank God it is not like what happened at BW's - sisters church.
Well - I gotta bake...and get organized...I am falling behind.
Well another dumping of snow, it looks beautiful outside BUT............
My table is finally set, the turkey will soon go into the oven. The gifts are under the tree. I am really looking forward to things. I am very happy with how the decorations turned out and the table and so on. Because I am not leaving for a cruise right after, I did a little more as I dont have just a day or two after Christimas to clean it all up.
My mother is baking, she is so tired, but she wanted to do it. My sister goes from doing OK to haveing a real hard time coping with it being the last Christmas with my mother. She is the most vulnerable in all of this. We will do our best to make it more sweet than bitter. We head up there tomorrow and will stay two days.
A very happy Holiday to every one!

This is my first Christmas poem from you and I have to say, it is the whipped cream on our Christmas pie!
This evening's menu is rather brief but elegant. We're having jumbo shrimp cocktails, broiled lobster tails and New York strips, southern style green beans, baked potato and pumpkin pie. My favorite pumpkin pie is commerical (Mrs. Smith's traditional) so I guess I blew the desser part but Fran and our guest, a close friend, are understanding of my quirks. Tomorrow I don't care 'cause we ain't cookin'! Oh, and of course the required Christmas libations!
From Fran's and my house to those of all of my wonderful Cruisemates we send our most heartfelt wishes for a magnificent Christmas for each of you and again to quote Tiny Tim......"And God Bless us, every one!"
RD, you are a multi-talented person. Thanks for sharing your pros.
Todd and Fran, your dinner sounds just delicious. We will go to my stepsons tonight for a ham dinner. There will be little ones around so it should be fun.
Ed and I would like to wish you all the merriest Christmas possible.
Take time to enjoy life's simple moments. The sights, smells, and sounds of the season.
They have predicted a blizzard which is supposed to hit here at about 5:00. If it gets too intense we will stay home by the fire.
Rollerdonna, what a wonderful poem! May you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. To all my fellow cruisemates, eat, drink, and be merry and even though life can seem difficult at times, take a moment to count all of your blessings!

RD great poem and thanks for the shout out. It's so funny because I have been looking at New Year's cruise (2009-2010) nothing for sure yet. But that sounds like a great way to ring in the new year.

RD, my friend - I know you too well to take offence - but you might have to share a bottle of wine to make up for it! I enjoyed reading your poem. Keep up the good work.
