Default Gran Torino

Just wanted to say that this is one of the best movies that I have ever seen. Great story, great humour, great acting from a mostly novice cast, and a very good Clint Eastwood. Maybe this time he has a chance to finally get an acting Oscar.

Marc,

We're going Monday!

If anyone is interested in WWII themed docudramas, Tom Cruise's new movie Valkyrie is excellent and wonder of all wonders (especially when dealing with Hollywood) accurate as far as I'm concerned, to the smallest detail and I've read mountains of material over the year on this attempt to assassnate Hitler.

I also really enjoyed the Tom Cruise movie; he is a better actor than most people give him credit for.

Looking forward to seeing Gran Torino this week.

Since I really need to get a life, I attend a lot of movies. Most of them are worthless, either with bathroom humor or full of things blowing up. Gran Torino was excellent and one of the best I have seen this year. Let's hope that Clint gets two Oscars, one for directing and one for acting.

It was nice to see a movie that wasn't full of political or social propaganda.

I think we are going to see Gran Torino tomorrow. Sounds like it should be a very good movie.

I will not pay money to see the movie because Clint's views are drastically different from my own.

However...

I had a '73 Gran Torino Sport and I would like to see that car.

I meant to get back to this earlier in the week and didn't. We went and saw Gran Torino last Sunday. I have to say this is one of the BEST movies I have seen in many years. Just a great movie. It's funny, it's sad, it's entertaining. You do have to get past the language, but the story is great. I give it a two thumbs up.

Hey Mehawk if I didn't see movies of actors I drastically disagree with, I wouldn't see many movies as most actors are flaming liberals. But that won't stop me from going to see a Sean Penn movie - he is a gifted performer and I appreciate just that.

I imagine you greatly enjoyed your '73 Grand Torino, I believe my brother had one. The early seventies were great for cars. My favorite car I ever owned was a two-door '71 Chevelle Malibu. Oh the memories!

Saw Gran Torino day before yesterday. I am anything BUT a movie reviewer. I shall say, however, that I have always enjoyed Clint Eastwood movies and my wife and I feel this is the finest one he has ever made.

Gran Torino

Valkyrie

Defiance

I see Cruisemates loved Gran Torino and some thumbs up for Valkyrie but the previews for Defiance look good too.

Saw Gran Torino yesterday. Excellent movie
Mehawk, Which Clint Eastwood's views are drastically different from your own? The old ultra conservative Dirty Harry, Unforgiven Clint Eastwood, or the new moderate/liberal, Million Dollar Baby, Gran Torino, Clint Eastwood?

the theme of Gran Torino is diversity, tolerance and Kumbaya Walt (Eastwood's character is a bigoted ultra right somewhat Archie bunker type who in the end "sees the light." So I'd say he's certainly moderated his views over the years.

I saw it today with my hubby and we really enjoyed it. The two unknown Korean actors did have a few moments were more acting classes would have helped. But it was only in a couple of places, overall very good well written script. I agree with Jimh49 if I didn't see movies of actors that bugged me I would never see a movie.

Oh yes, I really enjoyed that car. During the week, I had a two barrel carburator on it. On Friday evenings, after work, I would swap the intake manifold and place a four barrel on it for play. Then on Sunday evenings, I would swap it back.

It isn't his movies that I disagree with it is his off screen beliefs. I will not go into them here because it will create a firestorm and I will not do that. When someone says something against our country, I will not pay to see them.
