We are having a great time! My dining time is different from James, so we haven't spent as much time together as I would like. I did ask him to come play with me. He will explain that one!

I didn't participate in the pajama party. By the time I realized it was time for the party, I was still in the casino -- fully clothed! oh well, next time.

Yesterday we went to John's Mexican Party. As Kuki said, it was a great facility! I'm tired, but at least I have the rehab to rest up!

Marty, Dina, in a PM, send me information about your upcoming cruise. John will send you a little welcome aboard. Send me your full name (I know I should know but I don't remember), and either your cabin number or booking number. Also your sail date.

Hi Darlene,

PM has been sent from me. Let me know for sure that you got it.

Marty Dina -
Check your cruise pieces they may ust be lower. I finally got a drop on mine and it was the early save booking. $90.00 a piece.

Marty - how coincidental. My boss who was walking along the sidewalk in downtown Charleston was hit by a car a week and a half ago. First the car hit another car then that first car went into him. Still sore and bruise up. Poor man. It made the Fox news as titled something like "it was a sceen from a movie".

Well time to call the PVP about the price drop.

Have a good afternoon y'all

Hey gang! got back Sunday night and have been waiting to get back to the FD to post since I jumped right back into the fire Mon morning.

Marty sorry to hear about your mom. Hopefully all will go well. 85yo is a tough age to go through something like that. I did PM you the story before I left. I assume there is something wrong with PM's. I did get your test back though.

Ok who is ready for my typical rescuedad, nothing is what it was supposed to be ski trip story? This one I do not have to PM.

RESCUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! okay where is the story already.... didn't get the first one; (someone must need computer lessons) and don't tease us with a second one and then disappear...... we have collectively decided that your punsihment for teasing is being banished to Walmart......

update on Mom: she is up & about; the eye is now open, but HOLY carp it is tooo awful to look at. (I am a big wimp, I thought I was tougher, I couldn't even change the dressings on her leg, had to get my newphew who is a trained Paramedic, to do it.) We got a doctor appt in the am. Now that she is doing a little better, we haven't decided who is worse off; her or her bike.

You know, sometimes when I am at the FD I am actually working BJ!!!

Ok, take the 12 hour drive to NC...wait I forgot something. The night before leaving my wife agrees would should leave the next night at 2am. I would go to sleep at 7 and wake up at 1 and be fresh to drive. we agreed! so, because I am such a light sleeper I purposefully stay awake until 3am the previous night and get up at 6:30 figuring I would be tired enough to go to sleep at 7pm. Lo and behold my wife calls me in the morning and changes the time. She says we should leave at 6pm and drive until 2 and stay in a hotel. I am like are you f'ing crazy? I stayed up half the night so I would be tired to sleep at 7! well of course I am not going to get my way. So, I make her do the driving. Of course because of this and the way she drives I can't even nap in the car. Moving along, we get up the next morning and I drive the next 6 hrs. Now, as we get to the exit of the ski area I call the guy at the "resort" I use that term loosely. If you look at the website and research vacations the way I do it looks like it will be a very convenient place to go for a ski trip. It is close to a highway so no back roads, has a lift right next to the cabin I rented so skiin/skiout and had a "Steak and Rib" joint 150 ft from the cabin, again I use that term loosely. So as I get to the exit for the town I get off asking directions to the resort. Well, this day they wound up getting 10inches of snow on the mountain which is great but this outlying town of Mars hill there is a dusting of snow. Now, I know from experience, that NC mountain people...well lets just say that if there is one snowflake on the ground 2 things happen. One is no one goes to work ands schools close. I stopped at the visitors center and it was closed, so was almost every store in the strip mall. No wonder these people barely sqeauk by financially, they are always closed. The other thing is that when it snows, the grocery store doubles its price of firewood. Isn't that price gouging? So I call the guy at the resort for directions. As usual I get the same thing. No street names, just things like turn left when you see the rusted out tracter and left when you see the church with the red door. He gives me all these rights and lefts and I tell him I'll try and remember. Ha! like thats gonna happen. So I try and follow. I see the tracter make a left, then the gas station make a right then the church and make the left. Now, remember, I am driving in deep snow. So I get to the ski resort but lo and behold no homes, just the ski lodge. The guy at the gate tells me I have to go to the top of the mountain to get where I need to be. Then he looks and asks "do you have 4 wheel drive in this! cause your gonna need it to get up there" I am stunned. Here I am in 8 degree weather, 10 inches of snow, whole car packed and the family and this guy is telling me I ain't gonna get to the place. So I decide to go to the lodge and call the guy again cause my cell isn't getting reception. The place is packed with cars so I find a parking spot 3 parking levels below the lodge and have to walk wearing sneakers and jogging pants up three tiers through the snow to call this guy. I get there and the phone is busy. I wait a while keep calling no luck. Some other guy comes along and asks if I needed help. I tell him the situation and this guy asks "do you have 4 wheel drive" I'm like "oh carp" i'm in trouble. Finally get ahold of the guy and he tells me I need to go back out and make a left and then an immediate left and drive 3 miles up the mountain. He then asks me "do you have 4 wheel drive" I exploded cause now I am pissed and frustrated with this whole thing. I am like "why the F would I have 4 wheel drive? why would you ask? you know i'm coming from Florida, why would I have 4 wheel drive in Florida? and I don't recall that when I spent all this time and money and research ever hearing or seeing anywhere that I need to have 4 wheel drive to rent this damn house" I said "look I have a big Yukon XL it's like a suburban it's very heavy and I have been up tough icey roads up here before" he says I should be able to do it. I am like what happens in this 3 mile trek I get stuck or something with all of us in the car. Make a long story short... oh wait. I ask the guy what is the name of the street I make the left on and he says he doesnt know. Now, this guy drives this road at least twice a day for the last 50 yrs and he doesn't know the name of the street!! well let me tell you, the name of the ski resort is wolf ridge resort, the name of the place I am staying is wolf ridge lodging so guess what the name of the road that took me to the lodge was? you got it, wolf ridge road! and the knucklehead didn't know it. So get to the top and check in. I ask where the grocery store was? He says "you didn't bring your groceries?" I am like "no" he tells me I have to go back down this treacherous hill back to the hwy and go back to where I stopped at that visitors center which is about 20mi away. I am like "you know what? needing 4 wheel drive and make sure you bring your damn food was NOT IN THE BROCHURE! I said "Those things would have been handy pieces of information! I then got my house keys and before leaving made sure he knew the name of the street his stupid lodge was located on! So we go over to the house which street had been plowed piling 5 feet of snow in front of the front door. Have to carry all my carp in trudging through it. Now, the "steak and Rib" restaurant was 150yds away from the cabin we are staying in. I decide we are just going to eat out there every night and we'll eat breakfast and lunch at the house. I drive out to the grocery store 20mi away get what we need and drive back. I then walk over to the big, heavily advertised and nicely decorated mountain steak and rib joint to get dinner and bring it back (we decided to carry out this first night) I walk in and the place is empty. 2 fat guys with jeans and dirty tee shirts sitting there and I ask if they serve dinner here? The guy walks over saying sure, acting all proud that I am in the best place around. He hands me a supposed menu. It was a piece of paper with the list of items they serve! On it was corn dogs, hot dogs, burgers, chicken fingers and a BBQ sandwich! no steak and no ribs!! I am like "isn't this a steak and rib place?" he is like "we don't serve that until the spring" I am thrown for a loop, couldn't believe it. You would think you are walking into a nice steak joint by the way it looks and this is what they give you. Now I am wondering cause all I see is these two guys who looked like they were the same guys who just plowed the roads and notice no waitresses or cooks. I ask "who makes the food" he says "I'll get it right our fur ya" This guy is the cook! well I guess dinner cost me 25 bucks instead of 100. So I go back home bringing burgers and corn dogs to find out my wife opened a $100 bottle of wine, to have with her delicious steak, that I bought her for Christmas. I guess $100 bottle of wine went well with her burger cause she drank the whole thing, what a waste. So now I realize we have no dinner for the next 3 nights. I drive back down the hill go 20 miles to buy more food . On the way back I notice a ski shop. I pull in to see if they rented snowboards multiday or by the day which is what the lodge does which is a hassle each morning. they do. So back up the mountain dump off the food throw the kids in the car and drive back down the mountain again. This makes four times on this treacherous road and now at night! Get everything done go home and settle in. The house was nice. The downstairs had a big plushy recliner with beautiful views of the mountains, a nice gas fireplace and above it a 37in flat screen tv with dvd. This room became my sanctuary for 4 days. Filled the little fridge with beer and watched movies and drank till I fell asleep. The skiing was ok but the lift lines made it almost not worth it. You stood in line for 20 min to make a 5 min run down the mountain. Plus the agravation of continuosly helping the kids with the snowboards, tying shoes, undressing them so they could pee then redressing them etc etc etc makes this not much of a vacation for me. All I kept thinking about was going back to my little room for the entire night. Surprisingly, my wife didn't bug me the whole time and in the house the kids were pretty well behaved. The house was big enough where everyone had there own place to hide away and each room had a TV, so we all vegged out at night. The only other events that happened occured on the way home. We left at 10am sunday for the 12hr drive back. we had packed our skis and my older sons snowboard on top of the car. About an hour into it doing 80mph I hear a rumbling on the roof then it stops! I look back to see my sons snowboard flying across the hwy! Thank god it flew off to the shoulder or it would have killed someone behind us. I slowed down and parked. Then, I had to walk back about almost a half a mile to get the board which luckily was fine. The other thing is I had to put the defroster on. I set it to high. When I didn't need it anymore I shut it off. But, it wouldn't shut off! I also noticed the radio station numbers were flickering. I pull into a rest stop and shut off the car, take out the keys and it was STILL running. I am like what the hell? How could this happen? anyhow, figuring there must be a short I made sure I didn't turn the car off the whole trip afraid something else may short out and the car won't start. So when I got home I had to pull the fuse to get it stopped so the battery wouldn't drain. The thing that made it bad was I had to listen to that air blasting on my windshield cause my damn ipod shorted out to for some reason.

I am done with North Carolina!

ohhhh happy post hump day gang....

You know, sometimes when I am at the FD I am actually working BJ!!! We had some horrific winds yesterday late evening. Along with a nice spring thunderstorm and lightning. All I can say is WOAH! Those winds were wild.

Loved the story Joe!!!

I have now come to the conclusion that you LOVE to go to work at the FD only to get away from the wife and you are NOT ALLOWED to get on CM to chat when you are at home or you will BE IN TROUBLE for doing so. Sounds like somebody just may be whooped!

BJ - glad to hear you mom is doing better. Give it a few more days and she will be stiff, tight and sore. Hopefuly she can move a good bit each day to help evade the peak of all that.

Well, it is off to enter a couple more recipes today. I played test kitchen again last night. Sent the results to DH's office. I have until the 15th to be finishing up this big one. Betty Crocker - mix it up. Then it will be time to really focus on the Pillsbury Bake Off.

I'll keep this short and sweet.
Ready asked me to play with her and I did.
I spent quite a bit of time talking with her family. Great folks to be with!!

Joyce and I spent the week before the cruise doing work for Beacon. I spent most of my time hanging sheetrock.

What made the cruise great for Joyce and me was meeting all the folks!
I will say this and not be bragging.I WAS THE BEST DRESSED MAN ON FORMAL NIGHT!!!!

OK.. so have you downloaded your pictures to your PC yet. There's usually software on your PC that will let you resize your pictures. This stuff comes with Windows. My software is Infraview. It's quick and easy to resize pictures.

James - Welcome come and I'm so glad you had a great cruise. You know we want to see pictures of this best dressed man.

Good morning HIH

Wooooohooo.. Look at our countdown clocks Marty!! Single digits. I can smell the ocean all ready. I guess I had better bring my little swap gift for the meet and greet. I'm thinking Hard Rock pin. Did you want another Hard Rock t-shirt from Detroit or are you all set?

hiya James, welcome back!!

where are the photos???

pocono, there are hundreds of ways of dealing with photos... i always start people off with picasa because i think it is the easiest way to go. go to picasa.com and download then install the software. its 100% free from google, no adds, no spyware, no time out periods, tons of features and works great. the first time you run the program, it will take a while to scan your machine and find all your photos, this only happens the first time. once it has the photos you just select the photos you want to re size (hold down the ctrl and click on each photo) then go to "file" in the menubar, then "export picture to a folder", pick a place to you want the photos to go and set the size to 640, and click ok. picasa will copy all the photos you selected to the new location in the new size without making any change to your originals... good luck

pocono it works Walter showed me how and the upside is you can just post a link to Picasa photo album and you don't have to load them in the CM photo gallery that takes forever

Dina; man's large t-shirt; the original style perferably (Please)

Hi HIHers

Finally some good economic news for the Pug family. My wife closed on 2 houses yesterday (shes a realtor). I am so proud of her. Now all I have to do is get my butt in gear and sell some cars and maybe we can afford that Victory cruise in Jan.

Carolin, Marty; Single digits until your Valor cruise, you guys must be so psyched. Im soooooooo jealous, you will love that itinerary.

Well everyone have an awesome day.
Andy

Pocono - view and browser are are your first indications that youi will probably not be able to resize. Try the picasa I did start to use it and it is quite nice, very user friendly. And sounds like just what you need.

JAMES - A BIG WELCOME HOME!!!

Well, this week I managed to enter a total of 7 recipe contests. 4 were for the Betty Crocker and 3 were to other places. I am not expecting to make it on any since I just started in the game but if I do, I will fully expect all of your support. Because on some of these you do have to go online and vote. So I am just giving you all a heads up. Heck, those gals in the contesting forum expect to win but then again they have so many wins under their belt everywhere.

So glad today is friday. I am just exhausted. I haven't been taking my vitamins faithfully the last two weeks and I can now tell.

Look at who has a short clock.

Ahhhhhh I just had to go downstairs to our security gards desk. Dh sent me flowers for Valentines day. Not to mention the car speakers for the new car. How sweet!!!!!

On that note - guys don't forget to buy the sweeties something for the big day.

Martha,
Sorry to hear about your mother. Our prayers are with you and your family!

As soon as I can I'll give a short thingy about our cruise. It was the people we met and shared time with that made our cruise.
The actual cruise itselself was not that good. The FOOD sucked big time!

No pics from me. I'm on dialup and it takes forever to load anything!
