Though not cold with a current temperature of 35 F, it’s going to be a wintry type day in East Tennessee with light freezing rain this morning followed by light snow tonight into tomorrow morning. 1-4 inches of snow accumulation are possible in the mountains at the bottom of which we reside. Of course I’m used to wintry driving but around here most folks aren’t and inasmuch as I don’t want to play bumper pool with my vehicle, we and most others just stay home until it melts. This is a part of the country that can have 12 inch snowfalls (though very rare) but when you step out the door 24 hours later, it’s possible you’d be hard pressed to know it even snowed.
Sunday din-din will not be anything exciting, just typical winter comfort food opening with I hope a Waldorf salad (or some variation thereof), followed by Fran’s made from scratch Cream of Broccoli soup, baked Virginia Ham with a brown sugar-mustard- Coca-Cola glaze, Fran’s baked macaroni and cheese casserole, steamed Asparagus spears, the obligatory southern yeast rolls and ending with warm brownies dressed with French Vanilla ice cream.
Wishing everyone a magnificent Sunday wherever you are. Those in the colder climes stay snuggly warm and contemplate your next cruise. Blessings on each and everyone along with special prayers for those of you requiring a little extra boost.
Good Morning CruiseMates! I am pleased to announce that laundry is officially caught up, for the first time since my children were born.
Last night we had a mild tragedy here at our house. I keep the birdbrains (the kid's parakeets) Robert and Alice, up on a ledge about 10 or 11 feet high in the dining room. It's a perfect spot as it is warmer up there there than the rest of the house, and it keeps them away from Sami the cat. but we can still see them and they can see us. Well last night I had just put the kiddos to bed, I was just sitting watching their cage and I noticed I couldn't see Robert, only Alice was bobbing around up there. d/h and I got the stepladder out and climbed up to see that little Robert had passed away and was on the bottom of the birdcage. So we took his little body out and took care of the remains. About that time d/s came out of his room and demanded to know what was going on. I would have preferred to have waited until today to tell him the news and not tell him at bedtime, but what's a Mom to do? So I told him that Robert had passed away. Oh it was pitiful, his little eyes welled up with tears and he cried and cried, we talked for a long time about Robert and how wonderful he was and how much d/s loved him, and how he was now out in of his cage in heaven flying around with God and all of our other dearly departed pets. That seemed to give him some comfort and he finally went to sleep.
This morning Sleeping Beauty awoke. I had to tell her that Robert had died too. Well she looked at me with a look of horror and yelled "WHICH ROBERT?" It never occurred to me that I needed to specify which Robert I was referring to (d/h's name is Robert) I explained that her father was fine, but still sleeping. She said, "oh you mean Bubby's bird?" I answered yes. So she was really fine with it, but worried about her big brother. So she told him that he could have Alice if he wanted (Alice is the loan remaining parakeet, named after MIL) she said he could even change her name to Robert if he wanted, he declined, but gave sis a hug for the generous offer. Then she took d/s by the hand and took him back to her room where she let him pick three of a his favorite "Littlest Pet Shop Critters" D/S has told me that hos next pet is going to be a hamster. I explained that Sami cat would really appreciate that, but it may not be a good choice.
So for today I have some vacuuming and dusting to do in my bedroom. I am hoping to persuade d/h and the kids to straighten up around the living room. I guess you could call this spring cleaning, cause it will probably be the end of spring before its all done.
D/H is off to work again today. We will likely catch up with him on Friday and we'll all head up to Canada together to see the inlaws. I think when we return I need to get my act together and start packing for the Blogger's cruise. I loaned the inlaws our big spinner suitcase, that should come in handy I think. Now that all the laundry is caught up, packing should be a piece of cake.
Hi Kids,
If evey snow storm, could be like the one outside my window now, it would be ok with me..white fluffy snow coming down. no wind..A Norman Rockwell New England painting
Dinner for us today will be rotisseried roast beef, fafalle pasta with sauted brusell sprouts, in a light butter sauce. But I too am making a pilgrimage to Todd's house in my mind
I finished James Patterson's latest book, so I am ready for my next one..I may listen to a book on my ipod as I paint the baseboard in the bathroom...we shall see how the day plays out.
Luanne..xoxoxoxox
Make it a good one.

Good Morning cruisemates! Temps are stretching to the mid 50sF for us in Calgary today. Melting is going to occur at rapid rates. We'll be able to see snow melting off before our eyes.
Have to head to brunch shortly at the home of my future daughter in laws folks.... with wedding plan dscussions on the agenda. Before it's done my name might be "would you leave now" because of some issues I feel I have to raise
Last night some friends took us out for a Greek dinner (and were very nice to include my mother in the invite). Had a very nice evening, and found out my mother loves Greek food. At 100 lbs. she packed away more food than I could.
I'd rather have your beef (as long, of course, as it was at least medium rare if not rare).
BTW, slight change in our menu. Decided upon potatoes au gratin (with extra onion and cheese) in place of the mac and cheese. Will have that another time.
Good Morning Mates,
I slept in today. A nice treat on a Sunday. We have just finished reading the Sunday Paper. Not a whole lot of news, but a nice relaxing way to start the day.
Todd, as usual your dinner sounds great. You could write articals in a home and garden publication. You have a nice way of describing things.
Beanie, so sorry to hear about the demise of the bird. With our parakeets and love birds we have had our fair share of mishaps.
I hope it is a good day for all of you. Our thoughts continue to be with Luanne and family.
We haven't figured out what our plans are for today. I would like to try to get DH out of the house for a bit. He is acting a bit depressed. akaCabin Fever.
Good Sunday afternoon from Ohio. I had computer problems earlier so am just now getting online. We are having a heat wave.. it is now around 35 compared to the -4 yesterday morning. There are a few snow flurries falling but that is ok with me since it is not accumulating. Plans for today a to just loaf around and watch some NFL football later. We will be having a dinner of Beans & Cornbead, comfort food! Will probably fix some type meat to go along with it just not sure what yet. Hope everyone has a good day.
Good afternoon from Virginia Beach were it actually snowed for a couple of minutes this morning. I guess the weather just couldn't decide what it want to do. I used the morning to go through my drawers so I could get rid of clothing that I don't wear anymore. (it's hard when you are a packrat like me!). Now I have to make time to dump all the clothing at a nearby thrift store. Kuki, I love Greek food, especially spinakopita and baklava. Growing up in Teaneck, New Jersey, I had the extreme fortune to grow up will students of all backgrounds so I was able to taste many different types of foods. I had never had Korean food until Rob and I stopped at the city market in St. John, New Brunswick when the cruise ship ported there. What a great treat that was!
It is still pretty cold, but now it is snowing too, so it is pretty out there. The roads have been uncared for, so driving is a bit tricky.
Went to church earlier. DD was the soloist this morning, and did a lovely job. After church I spent some time reading the Sunday Paper, clipping coupons and sipping coffee while dh made breakfast - maypo and panetonne which he toasted. I don't love maypo, in fact I really don't like it at all, I basically just swallowed it.
I have plenty to do, but since I only slept about 3 hours last night, napping is the only thing that is appealing. Tho' I must tackle dh work clothes soon.
Luanne - you are in my thoughst and prayers.
RD - I am thinking of you and James - house hunting. Hoping it is going well.
