Mike - have you checked the Holiday Inn-Galveston on the Beach -

I got 5 rooms at $99 per night. I even called and talked to the front desk folks, very nice and helpful. You can park the car while cruising and they have a shuttle that will take you to the Pier and possibly pick you up if necessary.

You can expect the trip to Galveston to take at least 1.5 hrs at that time of day.

Backup on 45 from the airport extends all the way to past NASA.

If you haven't booked the room yet, maybe get one near the airport for one night then we can get you to Galveston on Saturday when we get T C.

If you are using a shuttle service or driving yourself it should be ok.

It only takes one fender bender to make the drive really bad along this stretch.

If 3pm then you could relax and have a brunch on the island then head into the airport, too.

Check in at Hobby 1 hr ahead would need you there at 1130.

I believe you are Plat so easy debark right?

Hello, April, Carole and I booked South west for the 9th. I was surprised at the cost I though it would be lower based on the economy. Not that I like thinking about returning home but we have 2:20 out of Hobby. This is late for us but I don't know the area and felt the extra time would lower the stress level. The only thing have to do is contact the airport ride service we use and print out the boarding passes. I am looking forward to traveling to a warmer climate this winter, not that Nor Cal is that cold. This will be only our second winter trip the first was NOLA. We are looking forward to visiting with everyone one again. Take care, Mike[/i]

Mike your probable flying into SFO ? I want San Jose---since its just about a 15 minute drive------
Now I'm thinking about stopping off in Phoenix for a few days after the cruise -to see our new grandson--after all its on the way---
That is if it works out and the flight times and addition flight cost isn't too bad----if so we'll just have to plan a seperate trip----

Oh and did you see the other post about the bar hop---its listed under People and then under the Snoozman group cruise.

cheers

Hi Mike
Well Ive been looking for the same thing and there are various links for transportation if you go to HOU--airport website--
not to cheap but then again it's about 45 miles from the airport to
Galveston----
a shared ride shuttle is about 90.00 for 2 and a town car is about 140.00 ?
Cheers

Thanks, April it looks like you have been doing your home work. I spoke with Carole and she is not adverse to taking the Carnival bus to Hobby. Do you have any info on that? We have enough time that it should not be a problem. Are there shuttles at the aorport to Galveston our do you need to prearange a ride? In NOLA there were schuttles to take you to the hotel waiting. Mike

Hi Mike
Well as far as I can tell you can only book Carnival's shuttle for the day of the cruise---and its for only flights arriving by 1:30 from either airport HOU or IAH------you can do this on their website---- 30.00 pp for HOU and 40.00 pp from HOU----one way---and the same for departing --flights after 1:30 again from either airport-----I think you can add the shuttle while onboard--but I'm going to do it online after I book my flights.
As for shuttle at the airports yes--and they have schedules listed for pick up and departure times on the airport websites------
I'm going to look at that after I book my flight to Galveston and depending upon my arrival time go from there----if the times workout I'm thinking super shuttle and if not--one of the flat fare car/taxis-----I dont mind waiting for the shuttle thing but I dont want to have to wait to long -just thinking that spending a few more dollars will be worth my time and relaxation-------and my husbands too. Standing around with a luggage in toe isnt my idea of a good time--hahaha even if it means I'm going somewhere------

cheers
April--
