In preparing for my next upcoming Smooth Jazz full charter cruise in October (Capital Jazz Cruise out of Baltimore on the Grandeur OTS) I have purchased all the latest music of the smooth jazz musicians that will be on the ship to download on my MP3 player (so I can practice when Patti Austin ask me to sing the James Ingram part of "Baby, Come To Me", I will know all the words and sing in her key, in case she wants to take me on tour with her) ). In keeping with the latest trend on these charters, at least one super group from the 70's has been on these cruises (many of the super stars of smooth jazz got their start in the horn sections of groups such as Tower of Power, Chicago, Average White Band etc). The group WAR will be on my cruise and I purchased their Greatest Hits CD and just marvel how their music stands up over time and they have produced hits in the 60's-70's and 80's and still tour to sell out crowds today

Hannibal...Jim Petrick(?) was on my Smooth Music Cruise last year and he was a hoot...I saw him walking down the hall on the first day and I started singing 'I'm Your Vehicle Baby" and he joined in and we made quite the sight when we kept singing together when we walked out on the lido deck ..He looks like he is still in the 70's but he has one very beautiful and talented daughter who sang on the ship
CQ..you are kidding right I thought minors were not allowed in discos then you must know how to Latin Hustle 8) 8)
Since the theme is "horn" bands, here's something most of you Yanks have never heard of, but this music precedes Chicago, Blood, Sweat, and Tears,
Earth, Wind, & Fire, Lighthouse, etc.
Sorry there's not video available, but here's something by a great Canadian composer, Doug Riley, otherwise know as Dr Music.

What a nice song. heard it on the radio this very morning.
I enjoy listening to music. It sets the "Tone" for the day.
I do a lot of coffee mornings to raise money for charity, and often have some music in the background. I love YMCA by Village people. Its a great song, and is a theme tune for my charity coffee mornings. I like to help others. My friends, Donna, Wendy and the awful Chubbas are part of a local book club and we arrange coffee mornings. My Nanny helps bake cakes and scones to sell at the coffee morning.
I believe that music is *US*, where we come from. gangsta rap is something that people from trailer parks sing to.
I like classical, jazz, and I love Justin Timberlake. I find him so sexy and I would love to have him spend an evening in my house. He is so smooth, and so so sexy.
I love Journey with Dont stop believin.... its great. its my song as I always believe in others.
There are so many other songs that I like. Its all about mood really.
Thank you for allowing me to share my comments.
Bye
Lynn..you are welcome If Justin is not available, we will find someone to take his place, because that's the kind of folks we ae here at Cruise Mates 8) 8) 8)
