I'm heading to Mobile next week for ten days or so.
Last time I was there we ran to Arkansas to avoid Hurricane Ivan (2004).

I understand that Katrina did a number on that whole zone but I am wondering if any of my favorite places survived or moved.

I understand that the Original Oyster House moved a mile or so east on the Causeway.

Is the Floribama Club in Gulf Shores still around?

In Biloxi, there was this place called Rich's....right in the shadow of a big casino. Sold oysters on the half for a quarter a pop. Bar was tended by this great gal named Karen...she and her husband had this party bus that would take the partiers around town and then the drunks home.

Does any of this ring a bell with someone?

I know I will be macking on the oysters at that place down from Dauphine street.

I'll be staying at the Battleship Inn...any input will be appreciated.

Wish I could help Dan. We used to live outside of Mobile. But that was in the late 70's. Becasue of Hurricane Fredrick in 1979 we ended up moving to Flroida. WE did enjoy living there!

I can tell you that FloraBama is alive and well. It will take much more than a hurricane to put that place out of business. I was there abouth a month ago and will be back in two weeks. Cheers!!! 8)

Well, the Flora-Bama Lounge and Package Store may be alive but she ain't well. Maybe 1/2 the place it used to be.
I just drove the route from Mobile through Gulf Shores and back up via the Blue Angel Parkway.
The folks there are to be commended. There is no evidence of Hurricane Ivan or Katrina having wreaked the havoc that those people had to endure.

I remember driving through the area immediately after the storms and wondering just how those residents could possibly survive.
