Well, I woke up to find that darned Rooster from the sleeping pill commercial perched atop my chest again.
Guess I'd best start reading those Danielle Steele books Rollerdonna mentioned on another thread.
Not much going on today. It's been muggy with off and on heavy showers and the radar looks as if another cell is on its way. At the rate it's going, my lawn will approximate the Amazon Jungle before I get a chance to cut it.
Said prayers in Church yesterday for all on the list along with Blessings on everyone. Have a good Thursday.
Good Morning Todd and all CM's to follow. Another warm day coming up here in Lakeland it is already 78 and will go to 95 later. Working 3-9 tonight. Tomorrow I work 8-2 then have the weekend off. I am looking forward to that. Have a great day everyone.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.“
I am up, but I get to go to work. I am luck that my internal clock is working, it seems when I set my alarm yesterday I was 12 hours off. So my alarm was really set to go off at 4:00 this afternoon, not this morning. We like Todd have had a lot of rain and thunder and lighting which knocked out power yesterday. Looks like we are also going to get another round today.
Well y'all have a great Alabama Day.
May the hinges of our friendship never grow rusty.
Good Morning CruiseMates!!!
Well I woke up to a rooster crowing too, for real. Well I told you all about the one inconsiderate neighbor who thought it to be a great to bring a gaggle of chickens and allow them to run all over our peaceful and lovely residential area. Yesterday I saw one sitting up on my other neighbors newly upholstered patio cushions. Oh I hope the enjoyed their lovely dinner of coq au vin . Seriously she would freak out if she finds chicken poo on there, and I don't blame her. Anyway, every neighborhood has to have one of these inconsiderate boobs. It makes you appreciate all of your other neighbors even more.
Well yesterday was kind of wasted. The Sears repairman was supposed to be here before noon and he ended up not showing up until after 3:30. My babysitter brought d/s's buddy over to play with him after lunch until about 5. It was really cute. First they played games on the puter then the Wii, then they got out their guns and pretended to have a shoot out. But since d/s is chairbound. He would pick up his pillow or blanket to shield himself from being shot by the imaginary bullets.
D/s is doing really well. Today we go back to the Doctor's office for a dressing change. This will be the first time we see it uncovered. I hoped/s handles it OK. On Monday a little blood soaked through the bandages and when he saw it, he nearly had a conniption. Oh I promised a picture of the knee roller contraption I rigged up for him.
Not much else going on around here. Looking forward to a nice lunch with d/h as he will be meeting us to go see the Doc today. Should be a nice afternoon.
Hope you all have a great day and praying you all keep your good health and senses of humor, because with those two things you can survive just about anything!
You ought to patent that thing B/W. I can see show there is no way you could keep up with him! Please tell him all of his Cruisemates (and that's a lot of folks) are so proud of him and to keep up the good work
Dull, damp,deluge...pretty much sums it up. Storms last night. Lots of trees down. DH worked all night. We have to be at the specialist in about 4 hours - two hour drive. He is not home yet, and has a caboodle of paperwork that he has not filled out. I am feeling anxiety. I shouldn't but I do! I am trying so very hard, not to be angry for his lack of preparation to see this specialist. It is his jaw, his pain, his inconvience, his appointment, and his paperwork. Yet I feel responsible. Like back in the day, when one of the kids waited til the last minute on an important school project. I hope I don't literally explode! I hate this feeling - ugh.
Last night I went to my in-laws. Visiting were two sets of m'tantes and m'oncles and even a cousin thrown in. They are all getting so old. It was rather sad to see how they have aged. Some I haven't seen in almost a year - the ones from Florida, the cousin from Deleware I haven't seen in about 20 years.
After supper my mil got out her guitar and accordian, the cousin brought out his guitar and one of the uncles his harmonicas -we had an old fashioned kitchen party. Lots of music, some in English, some in French.
Another uncle did some singing and yodeling. They were transported back to their childhood days on the farm. This is how they would pass evenings - some of the other siblings would also play - some on fiddles, some on piano, another was a whistler. They were a farm family of 12 - so they had plenty of kids to make music.
It was fun - everything from tunes like "RedWing" to country western music, a little blue grass, some Hymns, some Gospel, some polkas.
My husbands uncle sang one of their childhood favorites - Hallelujah, I'm a bum! It just goes on and on. They will do it all again on Friday night at another cousins home. Not sure if we can get there. I'd love to video tape it for the rest of the family. It truly would be a treasure.
Hope to have a good day. After dh's appointment I have several errands to run once I get into the "big city"! Maybe we can have dinner somewhere.
BW - thanks so much for sharing ds's progress.
I too was awakened early - which isn't good as I know I'll be doing all the driving.
Have a good day all. I am going to go adjust my attitude, then I will get on with my day.
I too was up early but by my choice. D/H had a load of product to unload so I set the alarm for 5am. We managed to get the load off in less than an hour and drive was on his way to the next stop. The warehouse is now stocked for another 2 weeks.
I spent yesterday getting things ready for our 3rd of 4 weekends in the motorhome and square dancing. It is all ready except for the food which I will put in later today. Need to go to the grocery and pick up a few items. I want to bake a cobbler and some zuchini bread for the pot luck dinner we wil be attending on Saturday evening with the other campers. I will probably fix some mac & cheese along with a chicken casserole too.
BW so glad your son is doing so good. I agree you should patent that scooter. I'm sure it would be a hit. Hope all goes well for him today.
VTJen, safe travels and prayers that all goes with with you D/H. I can relate to the storm issues. We had that mess a couple of weeks ago.
Todd, my mower is down and we are having problems finding a belt to repair it, so my grass is going to need baled before long. Think I'll get some goats!
Prayers to all those in need. Hope everyone has a great day.
Morning All, from hot 'n humid Montreal, the way summer is supposed to be!
It's only taken till the end of July for summer to finally show up!
VTJen, DO videotape the next family musical gathering, it would be such a treasure to have!
Recently a cousin of mine gave me an audio cassette made in the early 70's at a house party at my aunt and uncle's house.
My dad always played the organ at these family gatherings, and this time somebody taped it. Hearing it was like a trip into my past, listening to my dad's talent, and the voices of many relatives all now dead and gone.
I only wish it had been a videotape, but I am thankful for at least the music....
One more work day for me, probably another pool afternoon if it doesn't rain,. which is always a possibility.
Tomorow we leave very early for Nova Scotia and a busy weekend!
Morning from the Pacific Northwest..............we hit 105 yesterday!!!!! ACK!!!!!!!! Very humid.........that is not our kind of weather!!!! Broke a record from 15 years ago when we hit 100.........This is the 3rd time in recorded history we have been in the 100's..........
It's 72 right now.........suppose to make it to 100 again today........us Pacific Northwesterns aren't use to this......no A/C.......just fans........& the grandaughters pool........
We have a meeting at 7:30.....gotta run.......
Y'all have a good day & we'll try & do the same........
I never thought I would see the day when I would ask for y'all to send us Portlandians some rain. Please send us all your rain now! We've had many days now of temperatures well over 100 degrees. The last two days were 107. That my friends is tooooo hot.
Even with frequent irrigation, many of our plants are suffering greatly. Today is only going to be 97. What a relief, lol.
Good morning everyone from the great state of Texas, where we have rain. Yes, finally it is raining.
I was also up early this morning. We have a storm warning monitor next to the bed, so when it went off, the first things I heard was tornado warning. I jumped up, and got dressed, so that if I appeared on CNN, it would not be in my night gown.
It was a few minutes later that I discovered one of our dogs missing. Josh and I searched, but could not find her.
Josh noticed that one of our gates was open. It is pouring down rain, still dark, and both of us are outside trying to find her. She is not one to go far, but was afraid she had gotten confused about which house was ours.
She came to the front door a few minutes later. We were so glad to see her, and she was definitely ready to be home.
Not much else going on here. The geek squad is suppose to be here later to adjust our new TV.
Good morning from Southern California. I wonder if Chuck would be willing to share some of that rain. It's overcast, though, which helps keep down temps.
BW, the pics are cute, especially the one with the cat in it. That feline knows to pose pretty!
VtJen, people "back when" could entertain themselves wholesomely. Not like now. If you get a chance, DO tape these sessions.
Well, the new firewood is stacked. Problem is, it's not split. We now have enough yule logs for the next mellinia. Keith threatens to go out there are start splitting them while they're green and soft.
Today is my last day of radiation! Underarm is a mess . . . deep red and is "cracking." Very painful, since it's my armpit. I can do only a few of my range-of-motion exercises. I have yet another cream to put on it. Like bad sunburns, it's a little swollen. The doctor said it will worsen for the next two weeks and then start getting better. At least there is light at the end of the tunnel. Okay, enough with the whines. Thanks for letting me vent.
Have a great day, and if it's cool wher you are, appreciate it! '
