I believe Fanning was the one day stop NCL used to do in Hawaii to satisfy the Jones act. It was a day and a half there and the same back. So they had seven days in Hawaii and about 4 hours in Fanning Island on a ten day cruise.
And no, people couldn't get off after 7 days - illegal. So, I think they put Fanning in the middle of the cruise.
I always heard it was a long way to go to see very little. But I never went there so I dont really know.
I am the editor, but I also speculate, ask questions and play devil's advocate. I reserve the right to change my mind.
Location: Wisconsin....about 100 miles south of the Frozen Tundra and 70 miles east of Camp Randall
eddie - I never went to Fanning Island myself. I just know that it was the closest place NCL could go to satisfy the requirements of the PSA. I heard from a friend who went there that it is very unspoiled and beautiful, but lacking in ammenities.
