Default Getting off the ship... getting a ride: Port of miami ->

How chaotic is it when you get off the ship at the Port of Miami... And is it easy to get a car (for 2 adults/ 2 kids) to the Fort Lauderdale airport. assume a taxi is $75 ?

It is very easy to get a taxi at the port. Just have a port grab your luggage and he/she will navigate through the traffic, right to the cabs. It's worth the tip to have someone else lug the luggage while you mind the kids.

A cab is around $70 but I would check into a shuttle service. There has been one named by a few people on the boards, including our moderator Trip.

I'll bet she'll be by in a bit and let you know the name.

Take care,
Mike

I think the one Mike may be refering to is
SAS Transportation
1-954-600-0240
www.ridesas.com
He only charges $15 per adult. $10 for kids. We'll be using him next month.

Thanks Beenie:

That's the one. I appreciate it. I was in a bit of hurry and couldn't look it up.

Take care,
Mike

Any cab should take you to Ft Lauderdale, and yes, $65 to $75 is right. There are car services that are cheaper BUT most of them are cheaper because they take multiple passengers.

I once got a car service from Ft lauderdale to South Beach for $50, but the ride took over two hours because we had to drop off three other riders on the way and I didn't arrive until after midnight. The taxi is far more convenient unless you have assurance you are the only riders.

I can't remember which company we used to take us from the hotel to the pier - and the pier to the airport, but we had no problem at the end of the cruise. The driver told me to call him as we were going thru customs/immigration. There were 20 of us, so I waited until we were all through and had our luggage (just in case someone got hung up). As I was on the cell phone talking to him, he walked up right behind me!! If I can find the name of the company - I will post it here for you.

I will be using them on Saturday..here is part of the confirmation...Hope this helps...

Once you have returned your rental car please then go to terminal #1 downstairs underneath the Frontier sign outside of the terminal.

Once you are there please then call the number listed below as the van will come right into the airport to pick you up.

On the ride down to your ship we will explain the pick up procedure from the Port of Miami for your return.

The cost for this is $15 per person each way which you will pay to the driver at each drop off.

Thank you,

We used ACE when we needed a van/bus for our group of 24 in 2008...

I am willing to look into SAS though. The prices is around the same as we paid.

We will only need a ride after the cruise from the port to the Miami airport.

Has anyone done that?
To the Miami airport and is the cost the same?

Darlene

They ask you to call them when you are entering customs. That way they will know you are close to being released.
