A very good article. There is one thing in the bill that to me even though this is a US bill should be a bit different:
" a missing United States national"

I feel this should really be ANY MISSING PASSENGER

To me it makes no differnce where a person is from if they are missing or attacked in any way shape or form.

But in reading the article I think most of what is being required will not really be a problem for any line or any passenger.

One thing I am very glad that was not considered is "24-hours tracking of all passengers by microchip bracelets" This idea is absolutely outragous.

What are your thoughts abouth this?

I agree with you 100%. It should be any missing passenger, and I don't like the idea of being tracked by a microchip bracelet.

Manuel, it is a good thing that the bracelet is not part, beside the cost of something like that would increase the cost of a cruise that many people would just stop cruising and then the lines would end up losing money.

I just can't explain how much safer I already feel , just knowing the Feds are now going to make my cruises safer for me !
Now if we could get them to enforce the thousands of laws we already have on the books re/ crime on land, maybe I would feel safer when I go to the mall, to the gas station, store, etc. and wouldn't have to sleep with a Beretta beside my head on the night stand !!

To tell the truth, I think that we are safer on a cruiseship then in any town in the US. Lately the crime has gotten even worse all over our country.

DITTO Ron! I concur 100%, and oddly enough, I too have a Baretta with me almost all of the time,,,,EXCEPT when I'm on a cruise! (Obviously, I couldn't take it if I wanted to, but I too, don't feel the need for it when I cruise!)

The US Congress can only put in a bill American Passengers since the ships are foreign flagged. No jursidiction, simple as that.

Also, please remember this bill has only passed the House, still has to go through the Senate...
