I'd like to share a "find" with everyone out there who is disgusted with one sided (be it from the Right or the Left) news magazines. I don't think any of the old standbys have any integrity left at all and just the fact their all failing at a record pace bespeaks volumnes. I'd given up hope until two years ago when I was given a subscription to The Week for Christmas.
If you're a reader and like to be truly well informed without being "taken for a political ride" by anyone, I highly recommend The Week. While yes, it leans a tad to the Left, it nevertheless is scrupulously fair. What makes the magazine so great is that instead of using it's own staffers for everything, it's mostly a compilation of the views and opinions of the world's most re known Columnists and newspapers/magazines all over the world on that week's top stories. And it presents them in a totally non biased way so that one can get both sides of an issue and make up their own mind based not on predisposed opinions but rather on the intelligently presented varied views and opinions of extremely knowledgeable and respected journalists and columnists.
Not only that, it has a section devoted to the best real estate deals from around the country (albeit upscale homes), restaurant reviews from all over the country, music, theater and movie reviews, a recipe section and even the best things coming up the following week on TV!
Many of you know I', an avid reader (almost to the extreme) and I've got to the stage where I don't have time for crap, political or otherwise. Well folks, I'm just telling you this periodical blew me away! I think many of you as yet unfamiliar with The Week will feel likewise if you avail yourself of the opportunity of obtaining a copy. It ain't cheap but then again, it's not going down the tubes, either.
Just a suggestion and this is purely a personal opinion. And no, I don't know anyone who works there nor do I have a financial stake in it (I'm on a civil service pension and Social Security for Heaven's sake).
