Mean Dean..thanks for thinking of me in my time of loss:o
Lombard...your sympathy is greatly appreciated ::::

the "rest of the story" is that VW has been planning to upgrade and introduce about 6 new models in the next 3 years with the "new beetle" receiving a major makeover..the prototype is called the "ragster' which is like a new beetle on steroids..they are also looking to bring back my favorite 80's VW..the Sirocco...they were trying to roll out the ragster in 2010, now it looks like it will be next year this time..I have a standing $100 deposit at my local VW dealer in order for me to be first on his list to order a new 2011 ragster (note to Lombard, I take my VW beetle fervor almost as seriously as i take my full charter smooth jazz cruise)

I really like the current VW "CC" and may still purchase if i don't like how the new beetle looks..just have to wait another year...my 2003 turbo is in good shape so i can wait

note to Lombard...the beetle will never die :: my really good looking single female next door neighbor has a 65 superbeetle, that she lets me start up and drive down the block about once a month and it's still in good shape (as is she)

Venice,

I get the impression that you would like to drive as many of the ladies as you can.

Sky,

You and I think alike.

Several years ago I brought Venice back some model German cars for his collection, when we went to Germany. Now I am wondering if that is all he wanted me to bring back.

Luanne.....it takes a certain type of lady who is willing to ride in a VW beetle ::..when I was just starting out I owned 1971 Datsun 240Z (lime yellow) and a 1961 black VW beetle with a hole in the floorboard with the canvas sun roof that leak and a $39 radio shack 8 track tape deck ..on a first date i always showed up in my beetle..if my date balked at riding in my beetle, there was never a ride in the Z or a second date ::

and yes, as part of our neighborhood community watch program, it is my civic responsiblity to watch out for my beloved neighbors, regardless whether male or female ::::

Skymaster..well she is a licensed physical therapist and i did have a major back operation :: ::

Luanne...I display the vw models that you brought back from Germany proudly in my display case (thank you again)..I'm very happy with my New Orleans lady, so no, the only international aspect of my life is my German beetle and Candy Dulfer (smooth jazz sax player from Holland then I fell in love with on my last smooth jazz cruise)

you guys are toooooooo funny :: :: both of you have been happily married for too long

Sadly, Size does matter when asking people to go for a ride.

WOW, Venice, I just googled "Candy Dulfer" as sadly I'd hadn't heard of her, and I can certainly see why you love her! HECK, I love her too, and I've never heard her blow a note on sax! That's one beautiful lady! (Got to go over to You Tube now and listen to her as well!)

Skymaster..she plays as well as she looks..her band is named "Funky Butt"..when Prince played the 2005 (a month later was Katrina) Essence Festival in New Orleans he featured her...on the ship she was very very cordial to everyone and I have several pictures with her..she would look great in the passenger side of my beetle:razz:

Luanne..remember it's not the size of the stick shift, it's how well you can double clutch to get the engine in the right gear:razz::razz::razz:just as the "tach' hit's the red line
