Kat, I Googled it. Fado is a sad Portugese folk song. The entertainer was wonderful, and so were the guitars.

Mariza is amazing. David and I have seen her in concert twice. The history of Fado Portuguesa is fascinating. Her DVD does a great job of explaining the history of this very old art form.

She has several youtube videos. Check out her "Rosa Branca" (White Rose) video. It will give you a nice taste of Fado music.

Kat, I wish I could speak Portuguese, too. I have been a fan of the language for many years, ever since the bossa nova and of Brazilian music from there on. I know that will make a lot of you laugh, because that was a long time ago!

I'm a big fan of this lady so I can't laugh. I love the musicals from the 40s. Chuck my parents saw Mariza in Davis CA. They said she was wonderful. Last time I saw the Fados live it was in Lisbon and the singer was amazing.
