Earthquake in Haiti

A 7.0 earthquake happened about 10 miles from Port-au-Prince. There is a lot of destruction, deaths and injured. My thoughts are with them.

I have been avoiding this story, because I knew how bad it would be. I was in the Loma Prieta earthquake. The quake was on 10/17/89 7.1 and it caused the part of the highway 580 freeway to collapse killing hundreds of people.

This is in California where a lot of money is put into retro fiting and making buildings earthquake safe. In a country like Haiti it's terrible the lost of lives. The people trapped under the wreakage. If the fires come it wil be worse. Also with a quake this large there will be aftershocks. The aftershocks will cause farther damage to the buildings and hamper rescue attempts. I pray for the people of this country. This is a terrible thing.
