Default Earthquake in Haiti

Knowing the Dominican Republic is the other side of Haiti and Royal Caribbean has a private area or part of the island called Labadee I was wondering the effect this has on travel and ships that dock here?

On another post, someone mentioned that the next scheduled Royal Caribbean ship to visit Labadee is on Friday. We're waiting to hear if they actually do stop there.

From what I have just read Royal C aribbean has permission from the Government to bring in supplies to the country and will suspend stopping there for now.. As a cruiser I would not feel comfortable stopping there at present..but in the future I hope there is a way for cruisers to bring in and have distributed school and possibly medical supplies. Don't know how many cruise ships stop in the city of Santa Domingo, but for the other ports there should be no problem Santo Domingo also is a very poor county with the saving grace of tourism to help the economy
