When I first arrived in Lakeland and took my job I met a woman from Haiti. She was my first friend here. We spent a lot of time together the first year I was here. We grew to be great friends. She is from Haiti. Some time ago her parents came here to live. Her Father later went back. Her Mother is still here. I just called Fran to see how she is doing. She has been unable to find any word of her family in Haiti. She sure could use our prayers and hopefully one of the miracles I know this group has been able to do.

We here in Boston are suffering too..This is the third largest Haitian community in the US.. Haiti is such a poor country and has nothing to begin with...The Haitian community is despertely trying to reach their relatives, a local girl was just found buried at the hotel and there will be a telethon on our local tv station tomorrow.. We intend to donate to the Doctors without Borders tonight...One of the problems is that there is NO fuel for the planes to leave the country and planes are circling the airport trying to land.. Twitter and Facebook seem to be the only way people can communicate...I hope she hers from her father.
My thought and prayers go out to Fran and all of the people who are waiting to hear from loved ones and of course to all the people in Haiti. Please give to the American Red Cross to help the people in Haiti .

Laura, prayers to Fran, and, to all the families suffering from not knowing about their loved ones....Years ago, when Hatians started to move into Mattapan, a suburb of Boston, my mother worked in this store, and, when Hatians used to come in, speaking little English, how happy they were to hear my mother speak French to them.....
I watched the news tonight, and in one segment, you could hear a baby crying in the background, it just broke my heart;(

Ditto from the "other" Lakeland residents! Let us know if we can do anything further. Fran, and all those impacted by this disaster are certainly in our prayers.
