Morning Mates,
It's a gorgeous Saturday morning here in Caribou River. The long-lost sun has decided to come back, and it is bright white out there today. Temp is -4C or 24F, so bearable. Might get out there and enjoy some sunshine later today.
In the meantime, I've noticed that a lot of housework has been neglected this week while I was out slaving away in the office. Got to get some cleaning done in here today! Back to the old routine...
Hoping to hear some good news from Todd today, and wishing all of you a great weekend!
Good morning from Ohio where the temp is around 35 but cloudy. At least it is warmer and no snow in the forecast!! Next Sat. I will be waking up in Tampa, Fl. where I am hoping it will be much warmer there than here. We fly out on Friday afternoon to start our cruise vacation. The ship will sail on Sunday and we are so excited. Seems like only yesterday we began planning this cruise and it is here. I still need to decide what to pack and get that started.
Today I will be going to watch my grandaughter cheerlead for the little basketball team at her local school. These little ones are so cute to watch cheering and the ones playing ball. After that I need to do a little housework then I can dig out the suitcases and get a plan started.
RD hope you enjoy your new job. I too hope we hear good news from Todd concerning his Fran.
Prayers for all those folks in Hati and of course to all our mates in need.
Good morning Cruisemates,
Just got home from dropping D/S and friend off in the city to take the test for the selective enrollment high schools. 25,000 kids will be testing over the next few week for 2,600 spots. My son knows his chances are slim in getting in but he’s looking at it as a good testing experience. We love ˝ block away from out local high school and it’s a great school with great programs.
My prayers are with Haiti and I hope relief for these people will get started today. It’s very frustrating seeing and knowing that many supply’s are there but haven’t made there way to the victims. It’s wonderful the large amount of money that has been collected already.
Temps here today should make in to the high 30’s and then 40’s tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CruiseMates!
Well I am so happy to once more have consistent temps above freezing. The snow is melting away and the ground is soggy and saturated. D/s is on high alert waiting for a game we ordered him a few days ago. Every 5 minutes he walks to the window to see if the mail has been delivered yet... I am exhausted just watching him.
Glad I went to the Doctor yesterday, glad I did. I had a good old fashioned case of strep throat. So I am now on antibiotics and should be feeling better soon. I wondered why my get up and go had got up and went.
I called up the parents of the kid who had told d/d the Doctor was going to cut up her face and rip her tonsils out of her head. It was an interesting conversation. He said oh you must be mistaken, my daughter is so sweet she'd never do anything like that. I tried to nicely explain to him that only a child who was extremely traumatized by her own experience, or a child who was trying to terrorize another would say the things his daughter told my daughter. Then he started to tell me that the doctor split her lip during the surgery (which might explain the face cutting comment) and she had bleeding and vomiting in excess of what was normal (perhaps the cause of the tonsil ripping comment) and then he said well I think my daughter should go ahead and call your daughter and talk to her so she knows what to expect... OMG... I think that his daughter has told my daughter quite enough and I explained that we were doing fine setting realistic expectations using the Doctors explanation, the brochures he sent home and the information and honestly I do not think anything good could come out of the little girl's description of her experience. Thanks, but no thanks. I may as well have been talking to a wall.
On a more positive note..while we were in Canada for the New Year, I picked up some more wine making supplies. D/H got the Malbec started last night and as soon as it is done with primary fermentation we may get around to starting the white merlot or the sauvignon blanc. So sometime in spring we'll have a bumper crop of vino... one more thing to look forward to in the spring lol.
Well I think I ought to leap into action, but I resemble a slug today more than a leaping critter, so I will slither in and start some laundry .
Rainy and wet!!! What a yukky day. I guess housework is the thing to do since there will nothing going on outside. At least the temps are in the 60's right now. Everyone have a great day.

Good Morning from rainy New Orleans..we have a little touch football game at the Superdome today against a team from Kuki and Paul's neck of the woods..but it's no big deal
I just got back from the doctor. I woke up early this morning with a familiar pain in the lower back. I knew a kidney stone was making it's trip from the kidney to my bladder.
The doc gave me a shot of toradol and script for pain killers and we'll see when I have the new arrival. It's hard to lay down and I'm walking around like a tiger in a cage but overall the pain isn't too bad. The toradol made a big difference.
I hope everyone has a great Saturday and a wonderful weekend.
I'll let you know the name of the new arrival. We're thinking we'll name him "Rocky".
Take care,
Mike

First real sunny day of the week this morning so yes Donna it's a beautiful Saturday. Nice now and I'm taking the dogs for a walk, supposed to be 67 as a high. Not Scottsdale warm, but I'll take it. Hopefully it will nice for those SnoozeCruisers eating dinner tonight in Galveston! It will be nice tomorrow for embarkation.
Fran had a good day yesterday and was feeling pretty well today until about an hour ago. I think it's just over exertion as I took her out this morning just to get her out of the house. She had been so looking forward to trying to get to Weight Watchers (she's a lifetime member) and show them she was seven pounds below her goal. Of course she wanted to do this before she gained the seven pounds back.
We then went over to Atlanta Bread for coffee and a French Roll, well actually two for me along with 12 of those little cups of whipped butter (Damn the cholesterol, full speed ahead!). After that we went up the hill to Sam's Club where we got a few things including what must approximate a commercial sized container of Downy and enough Swiffer pads to last Fran for the next couple of years or so. I don't know why she just won't let me get a commercial dust mop. Also, those home wet mops, regardless of what kind, just don't cut it. I keep threatening to buy a commercial string mop and bucket with wringer. I told her I can do both her large kitchen and the sun room in about five minutes. She said I could, as soon as we had built a mop room in which to stow it. Guess I won't get my mop.
That's right R/D, cleaning is actually bred into wives, isn't it? Wow, that iron skillet just missed my head by inches! Fran must have mental telepathy. I only said that because I know how hard it is for men to clean house as we're so dysfunctional when it comes to such things.
Don't worry B/W. When it comes to house work, I slither into it as well, at least when I'm not able to slither out of it. ;-)
Mike, I never want to know what kidney stones feel like. I've already been indoctrinated into gall stones and that's good enough for me.
Hope your son did well on his test Aerogirl. Let us know when you find out.
Judy as I think I may have previously written but have forgotten, Fran never lost her hair but it did turn curly as all get out. Since then she's had what I think is the best looking coiffure I've ever seen on her.
Snoozeman, do you walk the dogs or as is so frequently my experience growing up when we had two dogs, do they walk you? It has always tickled me wherein everyone today cleans up after their dogs even in their own yards. I, my twin, older brother and sister grew up with two large dogs. We had a big fenced in yard but nobody ever cleaned it up. You just didn't play where the dogs went....well you tried at least since our canine brother and sister didn't always use the same bathroom area. Don't remember any of us getting anything other than the usual child hood diseases.
Hope everyone has a great weekend (I know Venice will watching the game today)
Todd,
I am such a huge fan of the big wide commercial dust mop and string mop with the wringer bucket. I have about 1500 sq. ft. of ceramic tile to keep clean and those two items save me countless hours of messing with it. I can run that dust mop and then wet mop very quickly and easily. if I were to do it any other way, I would never get it done and my back would be killing me. When I am done it goes out in the garage.
Hello CruiseMates!! Well it is warmer here in Lakeland. It is in the 70's but none of that famous Florida sunshine.
Todd on one of my jobs the group homes have the big commercial mops and wringer buckets. I love them as we are required to wash all of the floors every morning before we take the residents to the day programs. Ten minutes and I have the whole house of ceramic tile floors done. At the other job we have just the mops from the supermarket, grrrrrrr....need I say more?
Back when I was young people simply let the dog out the door. Dogs know nothing about property lines. I remember in the fall we would rake the fallen leaves into huge piles and jump in and play. The air full of the gleeful shouts of children at play. Then the occasional shout of
eeeeeyyyyeeeeeeeew!!! DOG POOP!!! Ahhhhhh childhood.
Have a wonderful day CM's
Laura
