Morning Mates, not only is it a new week, but a new beginning for me.
Today is the day I start my new job (officially).
I've been doing office and planning work for 2 weeks, but today I go into the school and start the program.
I'll be doing calisthenics, aerobics, dance, games, and yoga, all designed to keep the kids (and me!) active and healthy.
Should be interesting....
Will have to be doing some exercises today to keep warm. Right now it is -10C and cloudy. But at least I don't have to battle the snow!
Hope everyone had a good weekend, and that your week gets off to a great start.
Hi Kids,
Cruddy day here....a good day to clean out my draws and rearrange my book shelves. Tomorrow is the special election, for Kennedy 's senatorial seat.
I am sooo sick of getting phone calls, and seeing the tons of ads..all that $$$$!
Good Morning CruiseMates!
It is cloudy and overcast but the mild temps above freezing continue, for which I am very thankful. Over the weekend it should get into the mid 40's but rain is in the forecast as well.
Donna I want to wish you the very best in your exciting and new endeavors and hope all goes well as we know it will.
Trip I love your diaper cakes!
Yesterday we took d/d to the grocery store to pick up her favorite post-tonsillectomy type foods. She got jello and baby food, yogurt tubes that we can freeze and all sorts of good stuff, and then we came home and printed out pictures of all the stuff we bought and put them in a book so if she can't talk, she can point to what she wants. We put a in picture of the pain faces so she can let us know if she's in pain and how much pain she's in along with Mr. Pukey face so she can tell us she's nauseous . So I think we have everything nearly in order. Both kids will stay out in the living room where I can keep the foot elevated on d/s in one recliner and the head elevated on d/d in another. So it will be like my own little hospital ward complete with big screen TV.
D/S is ready and prepared. I think we are both just so glad to get this last surgery done so we can put it behind us and get him healed up and moving again by baseball season with his new feet.
This morning I woke up later than normal. I had trouble sleeping because every time I'd lay down I'd start to cough, so luckily I bought some cough drops a while back and they finally got it stopped. I finally slept some. At 7:45 I woke up and realized d/h was still laying there asleep and for 5 minutes I attempted to roust him, finally he woke up and said...I don't have to go to work...leave me alone. I asked why? It's Martin Luther King Day...figures. So here I am, wide awake and him and the kids...still asleep.
Well at least I have Sami here to keep me company. I need to get moving...Hope you all have a wonderful day!
Good morning Rollerdonna, Trip, BeenieWeenie, Kuki and all our beloved CruiseMates who follow.
Inasmuch R/D as it's just before 11:00 am EST, you've long been at work so allow me to say I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your first day with the children. I'm sure you were Heaven sent for that particular job, something everyone will soon find out!
Trip, your cake was just adorable. I must also say that I too abhor election time for the same reasons. I wonder if they ever stop to think they're alienating everyone by such antics and that more than a few will just stay home and not vote at all as a sort of protest.
B/W, you are so organized it is unbelievable. Also, I think I'll use Mr. Pukey to describe Fran for the past two days. The doctor has called in a script for her nausea.
Look at the bright part, Kuki. There's so little rain in Arizona to fuddle up everyone's golf games and just think, in a few months you'll be able to play when it's sunny and 110 degrees F.
Hope everyone has a great week and prayers and Blessings continue.
I enjoyed watching the Vikings defeat the Cowboys. It was a fun game to watch. I told you that Brett was jacked up on Geritol.
Today is cruise preparation day. Betty got all the "stuff" in the cases but it was such a tight fit that we would have no room to bring anything back. We were trying to pack everything, for a 10 day cruise, in one rolling garment bag and a 26" suitcase. The 26" was 49.5 lbs. I made the call to pay the $32 extra and split the cases up and go with a second 26" case. Now we have three cases and a carry-on. If we could unload the formal stuff and accessories it wouldn't have been a problem.
I am printing out what needs to be printed: itinerary, gifts and gear confirmations, Seapass and new copies of credit cards and passports.
I'm also waiting for my SIL. We need to go to the bank and do some changes to the grandkids' accounts. While I'm there I need to get some cash for the trip. Betty only allows me $50. After we're done we'll have a good lunch.
I hope everyone has a great day!
Mike

here in Sun City it is sunny, what else? 68 Fahrenheit or 20 Celsius whatever you prefer.
My parents in Germany fight with a pile of snow that is already higher than their shoulders. Temparatures are two digits in minus. My father doesn't know anymore where to shovel that snow from the street. I told him to rent a truck and shovel it on it and drive into wilderness and dump the snow there *gg*
So I think I have nothing to complain about *gg*
Happy holiday :-) and Donna good luck to you on your new job!

I bet you are glad not dealing with all that snow.
On another note: My SIL called me and "informed" me that the banks are closed today for MLK Day. Duh!!!! I guess those senior moments are getting worse.
Oh well: It gives me more time for cruise preparation.
Take care,
Mike

it's 12:15 here so I guess you still can say good morning on a holiday :-)
You bet I'm glad, who needs snow anyway? Loved it as a child but since I have to drive a car to work I just hate it. I'm glad to have a time out on this for a while.
A late good morning to all. I just got back from my spa treatment in Pasadena. Not a fun day for driving, I can tell you, with continuous rain since Sunday afternoon and going until Friday.
Mike, I think you and Betty and Keith and I are in for some bumpy rides. Waves are supposed to be huge. 'Course, huge here is teeny compared to Hawaii.
My packing is done except for the last minute stuff that will get stashed on Wednesday morning. And speaking of luggage charges, I told Keith that those big Samsonites we're using would cost a fortune on an airline. When the day comes that we have to fly, they're done!
Donna, I hope you enjoyed your first day with the kidlets.
Todd, I hope Fran's meds will help her feel better. Nausea is the pits.
Well, must brave the rains again. Have a good day, all.
