So the Snooze cruise arrives back in Galveston abit late. Still, we managed to be off the ship and on the causeway by 930am.
We get to baggage claim and discover that Pops' garment bag isn't there. Hmmm did newbie forget to put it outside the cabin? Is it still in his closet in the cabin? Did he not put a tag on it? He couldn't remember.
Thankfully the great folks at Carnival shoreside employees found it in lost and found. It did have a tag but the tag was inside a protective sleeve and not flopping loosely on the bag. The handlers didn't see it.
Ok. Good. So off to Customs and onto the car.
We get home. BIL has locked the house up tight. (As you would expect since he is Texas DPS) Problem is, he locked the door on the inside of the garage and took the key with him back to Austin!!!!
We can't get in, can't break the window as we have the breakproof plastic stuff on the windows! Dogs are inside, btw, whining to see us after a week away.
We decide we will meet SIL halfway in Brenham for the key.
We get there and meet SIL, get the key and head back to Houston.
The Brenham Police Dept decided we were speeding so we get a ticket!!
Finally at 3pm we get home and hug the dogs, get yelled at by the cat, and begin unpacking.

Sounds like you have a great attitude and are already laughing about it.
(In December I got off the Fantasy in Mobile and got back to the hotel and my car only to realize I had left my keys safely tucked away in my cabin drawer! The nice hotel manager gave me a lift back to the port and the nice Carnival employee with her walkie-talkie called onboard. My keys were in my hands within 20 minutes. So much for prompt debarkation!).

As you may have read from the others the cruise was fantastic!! Ray was a most excellent host!
The Caymans are so incredible!
Bar Hop in Cozumel was by far the best time we have ever had in Cozumel. Almost lost the UT hat in the waves there.
Since we had one of the two larger balconies we hosted the sailaway parties each evening. What a blast that is having everyone around to talk about their day in port and continue the fun from there.
TC kept us busy with her infraction card. Must remember to bring the sandwich board and chalk next time!
BIL being a DPS trooper was going to call the "officer" and see what he can do about the ticket. Not holding out much hope, tho.
BIL will not be house sitting again I can tell ya that! And, there are now 2 sets of house keys hidden in the back yard and in the garage!

Did you tell the cop your wife's brother is a trooper? If that didn't do any good probably nothing will. Some officers would literally write their own mothers.
Of course your BIL can inform the officer if your summons was a nickel and dime violation like five miles or so over the limit. If that was indeed the case, your BIL has state wide jurisdiction and it would be a good idea if the officer wished to press your issue, to understand that when it comes to the officer's family members the same level of courtesy would be shown to them by members of the Texas DSP, as he shows to you.
I guess after such a great cruise I should not complain about the trip home. Flying was awful for anyone connecting in ATL. When we finally got there hundreds of people were sleeping on the floors and several hundred others were in the rebooking lines. We were among the first passengers off the ship about 8AM and arived home at Midnight.
Thanks Snoozeman, P&L & TC for all your organizing efforts.
