Default It's Friday and Winter's Back!!

Morning Mates,
It's a snowy-blizzardy kind of morning here in Caribou River.
We've gone from +7 to -1, from green grass to white-out conditions in just a few hours. Up to 20 cms expected, with heavy blowing snow all day.

I am supposed to go in to work today, waiting to hear if anything is canceled.
If not, it will be an interesting drive. I have to cross several kms of causeway over the ocean and visibility should be nil.

On the other hand, I'm kind of liking this, because I will be able to use my new snowshoes again this weekend!

Wishing best wishes to BW's son for surgery today, and to Fran for feeling better.

donna

Good Morning CruiseMates!
I just said goodbye to my wonderful little boy and he walked off to the operating room with his harem of nurses as an entourage. He has been a brave little soldier and so far, so good.

I was afraid we'd oversleep this morning, but the boy woke me up at 4:00 a.m. to chit chat... so much for that extra hour and a half of sleep I was looking forward to.

As much as I dread this stuff. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my evening with my boy. He is calm and happy. So all is well.

I expect to be headed home sometime after noon. Then d/s will be settled in and hanging out in the good old recliner, with the cat for his side kick and his sister waiting on him hand and foot. He asked if we could stop by McDonalds on the way home to pick up a couple of happy meals.... He's really hungry already lol. I am trying to just keep busy at the moment so I brought my Netbook with me. It keeps me occupied while I am waiting.

Todd, hope you see improvement with Fran soon. TGIF I am so glad this week is over.

Good Morning Mates,
COOOOOOOOOLD - it has warmed up to one degree. With the windchill the temps are to feel about 35 below today, and actual overnight temps will be well below zero, so with the breezes and winds they are anticipating, the overnight temps could be feel as low as 50 below. UGH>>>>>>>>>! I dislike this, especially since I must be out tonight.

Yesterday - is it a law that I get every incompetent person ever involved in my medical health. On Wed. when I called to ask for them to call Pharmacy that the eye doctor left a note for them to do if I determined overnight I would need, in my chart. Well - this seemed so simple - about 20 minutes of answering the same questions over and over. It was the eye doctor's day off. I thought to myself - just call him. But I held my peace. Then his office person told me the chart was lost, she couldn't find it at all. She would call me back - I gave her my cell and went to work. She finally called back. She had spoken to the Dr. He told her to call in the the prescription to the Pharmacy. She asked which one I used, I told her. She said I don't know there phone number what is it. I was real angry by now, but simply told her - I do not know. UM, we have 3 pharmacies in out local area, and one about 15 miles away - how hard is it not to have these readily available - like in a roladex or in the computer - heck stapled to the phonebook cover, or, gasp - look up in the phone book. I had 3 phonebooks on my desk, I could have looked up, but I just waited. She finally said, oh, I found it.
The day wore on and in order to prepare my Bible Study lesson, I ended up not being able to leave.
First thing yesterday am - well as about 9:30 - went to grab the drops and head to work. They had no idea what I was talking about when I got to the counter. I explained how frustrated I was and asked them to call the office. Busy signal....over and over. The girl at the counter spoke to the pharmacist - who, thankfully!!! was the same one who was on duty yesterday - hmmmm a mystery solved. They got a script from the Eye doc. office yesterday, for a name and a birthdate that was not in their data base. They filled it and put it aside. Turns out - my daughter's name, who I might add is now longer even on our insurance policy, my birthdate. DUHHHHHHH!!!. Had to wait, and wait til they could get thru, finally got it straightened out. I was so, well lets say, unpleasant, I texted the pastor and said, I will not be in today as planned. I knew I couldn't be civil - which, well is pretty important when you work in a church office. My blood pressure must have been so high, I can't believe the top of my head didn't blow off.
So, yesterday was spent dropping a drop in right eye every hour. Today, every two hours - tomorrow every 3 hours. I hope it helps - the drops have made eye look worse, and not feel much better. Will see what today brings. This is part of the drawbacks of small town living.

Off to work soon - then to store. We are having a special service tonight, and there will be lots of visitors. Talking with the person in charge of the service I said it seemed we should have something after the service - coffee and something. So today I'll be baking the somethings....enough for at least 40 people.
So after I got that all figured out time wise, the Pastor calls and needs me to be at the church at 2 to pray for someone - hmmmm, right when I had planned the baking. So now I have to do some tweaking. Some how I have to have stuff ready and at church by 6 pm - go to work, go to grocery store, go back home and hopefully it won't take long at work, then start baking, then back to church, then home, then back to church - on the coldest day of the year. O the joys!!! I shall survive.

I am watching the Today show - really people need to now how to tie a winter scarf? I guess....maybe my tolerance levels are not what they should be today either. I best do some praying before I head out.

BW your son sounds so sweet. Glad you had special time - we are praying all goes great! Will check in tonight to see if you have a report.
Todd - as always, prayer for you and Fran.
Wishing all the mates a peace-filled day

Good morning.
A cold 5 f. here in Chicago but at least the suns is out. No school today for the kids it’s the end of the second marking period. I’m sure the teachers will be plugging away entering the grades. We can go online any time and check our kids grade throughout the year. It’s kind of nice to see everything they get graded on .My son has this volunteering session at the library this morning then off to get his hair cut. He has graduation pictures on Tuesday so we went last night to get a new shirt ,tie, and slacks. Can’t believe what a young adult he’s turning in to.
B.W. I’m happy to hear your son was so calm about everything. Let us know how thing are going.
Have a blessed day!

Wellllll Rollerdonna, it looks as if our weather is due to mimic yours. Inasmuch as you're located about a thousand or so miles North and East of us I don't know whether you're having a "Spring thaw" or we're turning into the Arctic. Today it's forecast to lightly snow and then tonight and throughout part of tomorrow become heavy at times with a total accumulation of around 8 or nine inches (20+ Cm's). Then Sunday, our overnight temps are to drop into the single digits. So much for Global Warming!

I probably should get out my video camera (the one that after four years, I still don't know how to properly use) and get some footage when it does snow. People are so unused to it that I'd be a shoe in for America's funniest home videos. Of course the winner would probably be your's truly going butt over tea kettle down the front yard.

Hope everything went fine with your son's surgery B/W and pardon me for hitting the wrong letter yesterday. To prove it wasn't a "Freudian slip" and merely a wrong keystroke, the word "artist" didn't immediately follow the "S!"

Jen, sure hope your eye responds favorably to the drops. Usually, events such as you described I would think would be rare in small towns. While of course mistakes are made here as well (we're a town of 16,000), thankfully they're seldom as egregious. Then again, being Tennessee which for years held the dubious distinction of the state having the highest percentage of prescriptions per population in the entire United States), they have to be on their toes because there's about twelve or fifteen pharmacies in town!

On a more serious note, PLEASE pick your pharmacist with equal or even better care than you choose your physician. That is the extremely strong suggestion of a former Professor at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Thankfully, all the folks at the CVS closest to us are like family (as well they should be since we annually give them according to my tax records, about eight thousand dollars worth of business!)

Hope everything goes well with your baking and time juggling as well, Jen. If anyone can get it done, you can girl!

Aerogirl, they really do seem to grow up almost overnight!

i know I'm being so repetitious but allow me to declare for the umpteenth time how grateful I am for all of your concerns about Fran. We've pretty much settled into a routine but it's one from which she can hopefully extricate herself in the near future. We won't know that for about a month.

Prayers continue for everyone on the list (including the temporary add ons of a couple of little ones) along with a prayer for multitudinous Blessings on all of my beloved Cruisemates.

Todd

Hi Kids,
Bright and freezing here, but no ice like half the nation it seems has...so we are lucky....Not much on the agenda, babysitting Luciana again today...I have not been out of the house all week, and I am turning into a hermit. Watching her is a hoot, she does these flying leaps into my arms, has no fear, and falls asleep next to me. Babydoll is her fave word, and to watch her mother these little plastic people is endearing.

Bw, your kids surely get their strength and calmness from you..Jen hang in there, lots more idiots to come in your lifetime, sad to say Todd, my sister is in Murfreesboro, and will be in the thick of it as well

To all our Cruisemates, in need of a hug and a kissle......xoxoxoxo

Well, it's almost noon, and despite heading out to work an hour ago, I am back home again! I got about 10 minutes from the house and heard on the radio that the school board would be shutting down all the schools at noon - and that's when I start! I also got a call in the car from my assistant telling me the same thing, so I turned around and headed home.

The driving is quite bad, the blowing snow is causing white-outs everywhere and according to the RCMP, they are issuing warnings to stay home and off the roads, there have already been several accidents.

So, I am glad to be home safe and sound, and have an early start to my weekend!

Good Morning cruisemates! With so many experiencing winter storms today I probably shouldn't tell you what a gorgeous morning it is in Scottsdale... but I will Bright sunshine, a few wispy clouds, and temps going to @70 with no wind. What does that mean?..... a perfect day for golf, and I should be able to go there with the top down.

I've been meeting some of the most interesting people golfing. It's sort of like cruising in that way, but with less people

Mrs. Kuki was going to drive me to the golf course, so she could have the car for the day, but since it's such a beautiful day she's decided to spend it by the pool with her Kindle.

Happy Friday to everyone.

Beenie. Glad to hear your son is doing well. He's already trying to "be a man" walking off bravely with all those nurses lol.

Hang in there.

Hey Ready!
Good to hear from you. It went great, we pulled into the driveway at Noon and d/s is comfortable. I have him lots of stuff to keep him busy and out of trouble. The nurses fell in love with him. They all told me they wanted to take him home with them...

Home you're staying warm in this awful bitterly cold weather. I hate it. Looks like we'll be back in Indy Thursday for his dressing change. and then d/d's sleep study in mid February at St. V's. I cannot wait for spring .

Take care and stay warm!
