Morning Mates,
Happy Groundhog Day!
If little Schubenechedie Sam (the Maritime Groundhog) has any brains, he will stay deep down in his burrow this morning, it is WAY too cold to come out and predict when spring is coming!!
The temperature is -14C with a windchill of -26C, or 14 Below 0 F!!
My guess is, spring is NOT coming anytime soon!
Sun is shining though, so it's pretty, but you can't ignore that kind of cold!
In addtition to it being Groundhog Day, it's also a day I have been waiting impatiently for for over 8 months - it's LOST Day!! My favourite series LOST has it's final season premiere tonight and I just cannot wait!
I have been "catching up" by watching all of Season 5 on DVD (thanks Hez) over the past few weeks, and I am READY to find out what happens next.
I always say nothing would surprise me with LOST, but they always end up blowing me out of the water!
Meanwhile, I must get through a long work day, plus a workout in the pool this morning. Hope the water is WARM!
The pool should help with the back pain, which is much improved since I did some Pilates exercises last night.
The Dr. says the bad throat is a virus, and just rest and gargling with deal with that. No antibiotics at least, I hate that stuff.
Tomorrow morning at 7:30 am (!!) I meet with the Dr. at the hospital for him to give me a cortisone shot in my elbow. The anti-inflammatories have not worked with that pain, so we're trying the shot. Unfortunately, he warned me it may be MORE painful for a few days after the shot.
You just can't win, can you?
Well, I'd better get moving if I'm to get out of here on time this morning,
have a great Groundhog Day, and hope spring is coming SOMEWHERE!
Happy Groundhog day,
Looks like he will not see his shadow, so 6 more weeks of winter, UGH. Looks like light snow here most of the day, here we go again...
Good Morning CruiseMates!
The sun isn't up here yet, but the forecast is calling for some snow this morning. The temps have leveled off for the next 10 days low of 20, highs in the mid 30's. Yesterday it almost made it to 40, so I am holding out hope we might have an early spring after all.
I went out to check on my plants yesterday to see if my hired bugs were doing their job or not. Well I haven't a clue. I didn't see even one of them, but on a bright note, the plants look a little better to me. That could be because I gave them a little fertilizer last week. Time will tell I suppose.
D/S is doing well. I cut his pain meds in half late yesterday and am slowly lengthening the period between doses and he actually seems to feel better with less. I wonder what's worse sometimes, the affliction or the cure?
D/H is off to work, tonight I have rehearsal for a choral performance in Danville and Champaign in about a month and a half. I looked it over yesterday and it seems there are 70 pages of music here and only about a half dozen rehearsals scheduled, eek! I better get off my duff and start working on this or be prepared to be very unprepared . I probably would not even bother with it, but my very favorite teacher ever from my High School years is now University of Illinois Asst. Professor Emeritus and will be conducting, so it will be fun to work with him again 30 years later. I have so many fond memories of those days and I owe him a lot, as I am pretty sure I never would have survived those years without his help. He was one of the good guys.
Life here at the end of the lane is quiet. I keep having a dream that I win a really nice house in a sweepstakes and get stuck because it costs too much to keep . Don't know what that all means but I guess I'll worry about that later, should I ever win a house in a sweepstakes...fat chance .
I hope you all have a great day and all of our prayers are answered for those of you who are struggling. Hang tight everyone, we're one day closer to the weekend.
Beenie Weenie, maybe Ty Pennington will show up on your doorstep one day and BUILD you a new house!!
As for me, I wish somebody would show up on my doorstep and bring me a new BRAIN! I left for swimming a half hour ago, got about 3/4 of the way there and realized I forgot my bag with my bathing suit and towel!
Had to turn around and come home again, too late and too far to go back and forth.....
At least I remembered my lunch and my work stuff.....
Good morning all on a damp day that can best be described as raw, here in upper East Tennessee.
'Reckon we have the bottom half of what you're getting B/W. Do we get to somehow hear your choral presentation? I so admire those who have singing talent as I couldn't carry a tune if my life depended on it.
Even with our dreary wet skies, I'll certainly take our 37 F over your -14 F RollerDonna.
Nothing on the schedule today so I guess I'll find something to do around the house as long as it doesn't involve work........maybe reading?
That was so kind of you Jen, to share that wonderful story of your Uncle on Venice's "For WW II Aviation Buffs" thread. It's a great story for everyone.
Prayers continue for all of you on the list along with a request for Blessings on all y'all.
Hi Kids,
Bright and chilly here and no place to go today..Babysitting Lucy, so between Spongebob, and reading a bit..that will be my day...Already stuck the stuff in the slow cooker for beef stew for tomorrow. Bruce is on a Chinese food kick, bought all the stuff, and he is cooking tonight..yayayay!
Sooooo, anyone wanna swap days? Make it a good one!

Now that reality will be setting in and I will need to get out of vacation mode. I went through the mail last night and there are a number of things I need to address.
We returned to a snow storm and it snowed throughout the night so I will also have to get out and do some snow blowing.
The bad part of getting home is that Betty has a terrible cold. It started as sniffles on the last couple days of the cruise but it is now full blown and she's complaining. If she's complaining about being stuffed up then it's pretty bad. She isn't like her husband and does not turn into a giant baby when she has a cold.
We have reflected on the cruise and while the food was a disappointment we did love the ship, cabin and really loved the ports. All were great except Acapulco but that had more to do with me and my brain then the city itself. Though I had to threaten a cab driver when he tried to up the price for a "return" trip. Gee: I almost ended up like the Antigua folks. Not really: I'll elaborate when I do my review.
Well: I hope everyone is doing great and that all has gone well in the last two weeks. Now I must get to work and take care of "life".
Take care,
Mike

Good Morning cruisemates! Sitting on my perch on that patio with my morning coffee, and enjoying the sunshine.
Normally I'm in saying g morning from one of the coldest spot, so this yr I'm really enjoying this snowbirding thing.
We're heading to the low 70s today, but "they" are predicting a few days of rain again, beginning tonight. We'll see if "they're" right tomorrow
Attended our first Home Owner's Assoc. meeting last night. Met some of the neighbors. Also found out 60% of the units in this community are off site owners... so this means they are snowbirds like me, or are renting out condos they own. I was surprised to see that being such a high number.
Today Mrs. K is dropping me at the golf course, and heading out for lunch and shopping with another Calgarian she knows, who winters here.
Just sorted out all my registration and reservations for next month. I'll be attending the biggest cruise convention in the world next month in Miami, SeaTrade.... and sending in daily reports to you guys. First time attending, so we're going to have some fun with it.
