The insurance companies will always do whatever they can to find a way to legally not make a payout. That is why the insurance companies make piles of money. When dealing with insurance we read the fine print at least 10 times and in the end, we always send an email asking for a written clarification on anything that isn't clear. We alway buy insurance and thus far have been fortunate to have them pay out when we needed to use them but everytime something goes wrong I hold my breath waiting for them to point out some piece of obscure fine print that I didn't notice when I bought the policy.

An excellent announcement of what travel insurance not to buy. Guess what travel insurance company I'll never use?
I am surprised by this one. I always purchase insurance , but todate have not had a claim. It sounds like the reason, and kind of issue we purchase insurance to protect against. Why by insurance if they don't cover the basics. Just my opinion. Mike

Hey: That might not be a bad idea for a new business. Travel Insurance Insurance. I wonder if the URL www.insuremyinsurance.com is available.
Seriously: Most insurances will cover unused portions of your airfare if you have to cancel for a covered reason. If the airline provides a credit for future travel the insurance will only pay the difference.
It is REALLY important to read the entire contract.
