Default I've met a few

I had dinner with The Tokens back in the 60's, a golf lesson from Nancy Lopez, and met the Budweiser Clydesdales when they stayed at Monticello Raceway. (Those horses are so spoiled that they each have their own travel companion!)
Guests at my wedding (with ex hubbie) included Catherine Deneuve and Carol (leBrie) Rose, who is the mother of Otis Redding's 2 children.

For me it was Alec Baldwin, when he was first starting out, he was in Knotts Landing if anyone remembers that show. Met him in O'Hare airport, talked to him and even got his autograph. He was actually on the same plane as I going to L.A.

Default Have You Met Anyone Famous?

Keith and I met singer Neil Sedaka on a cruise. I met Fran Tarkington when I worked in Atlanta.

People I've seen but didn't meet:

Dinah Shore and Dionne Warwicke, both in Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills
Tony Curtis, in Beverly Hills
William Shatner and family having dinner in Hawaii. Can't remember which island.

Most of the more recent celebs, I wouldn't recognize.

Kuki,
Your post reminded me of Irving Azoff, he hails from my hometown of Danville, IL, his sister Cheri was my Jr. High Spanish teacher.

Also from Danville are Dick and Jerry Van Dyke, Donald O'Connor, Gene Hackman and Bobby Short, all of whom I have met at one time or another. Some I have pictures of them performing with my Mom on stage. Bobby Short was pretty much self taught and possessed a God given talent to play piano, one of his musical mentors was a spunky gal named Bernice Holmes. I had the pleasure to sing with Bernice in the last few years of her life and she was amazing...

Most recently we were invited to see Buddy Guy perform in Champaign, his keyboard player Marty Sammon is an aquaintance of our family. You may have recently seen Buddy on the My Touch 3G Fender Phone Commercial with Eric Clapton. But he is an amazing Blues Legend and a really fun down to earth kind of a guy. I really enjoyed talking to him after the show. I was so impressed he heard about a kid who was maybe 13 years old who lived in the area and invited him up on stage to play with him. That had to have been the thrill of the lifetime for him.

When I was younger B.C. (before children) I sang a lot with bands, and sometimes would perform for benefits for Cystic Fibrosis and other fundraisers... The neatest event I ever got to perform in was when I lived in Arizona, they invited me to come and sing for the Veteran's Celebrity Bowl, It was a really great fundraiser that featured a dinner with Soap Opera, television and movie stars. Met tons of celebrities and got to enjoy a wonderful dinner with a few at our table. One gentleman named Michael Gregory had just finished filming of the pilot for a show called Murphy Brown, at that time that meant nothing to me, but it wasn't long before I was watching it every week. I saw him in several movies after that, I remember him having a small part in Beverly Hills Cop. This was really a neat experience. My Dad actually flew out to see me perform for this function and it was a great thrill for both of us.

My Mom's band has played for Presidents, dignitaries and hosts of famous folks, she even got to dance with Evil Knievel one time.

We get our share of University Sports figures since we have a very popular dining venue within an hours drive of University of Illinois and Purdue. Bobby Knight popped in a couple of weeks ago and it isn't unusual to find people landing helicopters in this restaurant's parking lot to stop by and grab a good steak, so you never really know who you might bump into when you go for dinner or lunch at The Beef House.

I've been blessed to perform with some terrific musicians some who have played with the greats of the Big Band Era, one played with Muddy Waters, some ended up making it big, others didn't, but they could have. There are a lot of stars out there, that just haven't been discovered yet.

I have met quite a few when I was working at a concert venue in NH.

The Beach Boys
Neil Sedaka
The Moody Blues
Eminem.... ugh
The Kingston Trio
Kenny Rogers
Willie Nelson
98 Degrees
Brian Wilson

I am sure there are others in this list but my feeble memory fails me.

When I was a little girl in Massachusetts we went to visit relatives in Acton Mass. There was a teenage boy there and he took me and my cousins upstairs to watch a puppet show that he performed for us.
That teenage boy was Carroll Spinney. He grew up to be the original Big Bird of Sesame Street. He was also a Muppeteer for Jim Henson.

I did meet one on a cruise. On my first cruise in 1983 in the Festivale I met Mamie Van Doren. She was traveling with her son. she was gracious and signed autographs and posed for pictures. Unfortunately my pictures from those days were left in NH when I moved south.
Now all the young folks are saying... Who??? She was an actress very popular in the 50's and 60's

NOPE!

Actually, while serving, and performing with the Marine Corps Band, I met lots of political folks, most presidents in office at the time, and several others in the entertainment world.
I've met quite a few entertainers aboard ship, but none for the last 10 years or so. In the past, the lines had a "name performer" and very often, and you'd run into them at the bars or in the clubs, and get to hob-nob with them, but thats long ago, and far away.

Dave The Wave tells me that for a brief period of time Mamie Van Doren and Marilyn Monroe were rivals and Mamie was more popular then Marilyn

he also said he dated both of them when he was 16 and they were cougars long before the urban dictionary invented the term

I've met the oddest famous person twice: Ron Jeremy. The first time was many years ago when I was in college, working as a bellman in Kansas City. I opened a car door, took his bag for him, the realized: "Oh crap, that's Ron Jeremy."

The second time was last December, sitting at the MGM Grand Sportsbook in Vegas, where he walked by saying hello to folks. He's a very friendly guy, and I felt obliged to thank him for teaching me a few tricks.

My other famous person encounter was at an afterparty for the opening of the show Radio Golf, in New York. I danced with Tracie Thoms (She's on the show Cold Case, and was in the movies Devil Wears Prada and RENT.), shared a conversation with the wife from the Cosby Show (name escapes me), and Lawrence Fishburne was at the party... though I didn't actually meet him.

Actually, Venice. On the same cruise on the Enchantment. I met both Syd Davy the Viking guy and Olympian Mary Lou Retton's older sister Sherrie. See pics.

Sherrie Lou. Notice the scrapes in her legs from falling down drunk.

Another..

Syd Davy and I at the pool.
