Default Has Tiger Let You Down?

What did you think of Tiger's apology this morning?

Impressed? Not impressed? Don't care?

The best thing for him to do, now that damage control is over, is get back to playing golf.

Tiger who?

No seriously, I feel so bad for his wife. He is simply trying to do damage control and living with the consequences of his actions. He doesn't have to prove anything to me, because he's not my Husband. If he were, he'd now be singing soprano.

I don't care what he does. But this is a valuable leeson I will use to teach my kids when they get a little older. Being a superior athlete, business person, politician, etc... does not entitle you to betray those who love you the most. The higher up you find yourself on that pedestal, the further you have to fall.

I saw the look of complete embarrassment and disgust on his mother's face this morning and that said it all.

I think Tiger used his controlling personality yet again, to make himself as comfortable as possible, under circumstances he needed. He looked extremely drained.

He owes me nothing. I am not a family member, a fan or a friend. He owes apologies to his wife, first and formost, then his family, his employees, the foundation, in his Dad's name, and all his fans who put him on an impossible pedastal.

While his speech, may have been written for him, the circumstances, to his comfort, and a hand picked group of listeners. I think he was contrite, and his apolgy heartfelt, realizing his fall from grace, caused shame, and embarrassment for the first time in his life.

I say leave them alone to either get back together, or,go their seperate ways.

With all the problems we are facing all over the world, who cares about Tiger?

has not let me down...his father probably wishes he was still on this earth and probably could have done some intervention to protect his career

it's not what's he's done to get himself in this mess..it's how he uses this experience to turn his life around

and at the end of the day, Manuel is right..Tiger is a billionaire, he'll be alright...the rest of us have more important issues to deal with

I have to say that when it comes to any professional athlete who behaves in like or similar manner, I could not care less as they are nothing to me. That even goes for anyone in the public venue who behaves in a similar vein, regardless of their popularity, wealth or position. We are far too taken or enthralled with such people.

We also have the disgusting habit of naming buildings, airports, tunnels, expressways, parks ad nauseam in honor of sports heroes, movie actors, or politicians who were only doing the job they were elected or paid to do and when they do exactly that, we turn them into something just short of idol worship. Yet how many major places such as these are named after true heroes (Chicago's O'Hare airport is the only one that comes quickly to mind) or little known people of even lesser means in our own towns and cities, etc. who were responsible for improving the welfare of those within our communities or everyday citizens who gave their lives helping others. In our town everything is named as it is everywhere else, after the "expected" type of people. Yet as a child I remember a woman who devoted her entire life (and Bless her, it was a long life) to helping the poor of our community. I'm sure you're not surprised when I tell you I don't know the location of any street named after her. I find this shortcoming reprehensible. And I believe many of you, after you cogitate over the issue awhile, will agree.

Todd

Let me think about it - what is the more deserving of sympathy - Haiti or Tiger Woods?

It is a no brainer

I couldn’t agree more. I think its ridiculous that he felt he needed to make a public apology or for the public to think their owed one. It has nothing to do with his golfing career it’s his personal business .
I would love to see someone turn the tables on the media who pry in to famous peoples lives just to sell a story.

I'm devastated by what has happened to Tiger. He has lost millions of dollars just because he was chasing waitresses and cheating with friends and acquaintances. Poor Poor Tiger. He is Tiger Woods!!! He should be able to do whatever he wants. He is better than everyone else and we should let him do anything he feels he needs to do. His wife should not be angry since she has the honor of being married to Tiger.

I'm kidding:

Tiger is a fantastic golfer. That's about it. He messed up his personal life and it's up to him and his family to deal with. I could care less.

Take care,
Mike

Aerogirl,

unfortunately, this apology has everything to do with his golfing career.

This apology was a carefully crafted appeal to several audiences:

#1: The viewing public. The people who tune in to watch him play golf, bring in a tremendous amount of money into the PGA. They also pay to get into the touraments, and purchase his merchandise. PGA event viewership is down 52% with Woods' absence. That translates into a lot of lost revenue for the PGA. Also, the other players are seeing lower incomes due to his absence.

#2: His Corporate Sponsors. Woods was dropped by several of his sponsors, which has reduced his corporate sponsorship income. To restore the lost income, he needs to win back his lost corporate sponsors.

#3: His Wife. If she initiates divorce proceedings, his divorce settlement has the potential to be the largest in history. Michael Jordan had to pay his ex-wife $150 million, the largest divorce settlement of any pro athlete in history.

A tremendous amount of money is at stake here, and Woods, a Stanford graduate, is keenly aware of that.

I am sure he won't be the first Stanford graduate to find out how expensive it is to somehow be unable to keep his pecker in his pants...

Although truly it doesn't boil down to intelligence, but more "which brain" is doing the thinking.

His personal life is none of my business, just as my personal life is none of his business .

He made a "mistake" (or mistakes). He's not the first, nor will he be the last.

Not only will life go on after this, but it will go on long after we post here!

I had no desire to listen to the press conference .With all the problems in the world ,the fact that Tiger's face decorates the front page of newspapers is to me a farce

"I thought I was entitled" - Tiger Woods

That quote about says it all. Just because he's rich, famous and powerful, he felt he was "entitled". Give me a break.
I could care less about Tiger Woods, but the only people he has truly let down are his beautiful wife and 2 little children. I hope he remembers that.

I see what your saying MD but I don’t fully agree.
As far as his sponsors go he could of made apologies to them behinds closed doors, unless they demanded a public apology and at that point if that what he chooses to do then fine. As far as his divorce if he gets one I’m sure he’s got enough money around and will be able to earn millions if needed. When he returns to golf the PGA will make even more money then they did before. I stand by what I said, I feel it was ridiculous that this man needed apologize to the nation for his personal choices and so many people think they where entitled to it.

I am seriously worried about him.
He looked like hell.
Glad to hear he is continuing therapy. He needs that support right now.

This is a private matter. There are more important things for us to worry about.

If he was an elected offical = different story.

If he can't keep his putter in his pants it in no way affects my life. I didn't watch it, don't care and have my own problems to worry about.

But if I had all that money, I would be probably be banging everything is sight too.

Thanks! I have been around. No cruises in '09 after 3 in '08 so have been lackluster in posting. But have one coming up on Radiance this year so have renewed enthusiasm.

I don't know about Corona Girl but Florida Girl is a cougar for sure. Yes, The Radiance in October is a Cougar cruise. I will be reporting live and take lots of pictures.

By definition from the Urban dictionary:

Cougar An older woman who frequents clubs in order to score with a much younger man. The cougar can be anyone from an overly surgically altered wind tunnel victim, to an absolute sad and bloated old horn-meister, to a real hottie or milf. Cougars are gaining in popularity -- particularly the true hotties -- as young men find not only a sexual high, but many times a chick with her stuff together.

Also from Urban Dictionary:

tiger :noun. male equivilant of "cougar", though more derogatory, i.e. an older, usually married man who pursues younger women, usually in a cheesy or embarrassing kind of way. derived in part from Tiger Woods affairs. A man who repeatedly has affairs while married with children. A sexually active *******.
"that guy is a real tiger...one skank after another"

Urban dictionary I learn new things everyday on these boards

DTW...since you are not married (by definition not a Tiger) and you are sailing on the Cougar cruise as an investigative journalist dedicated to truth, justice and the CruiseMate Way...what term do I look up in the Urban dictionary that would best describe your style

Urban dictionary

player
A man who seduces woman to make them think that they are the love of their life. Once the woman falls for the man, he casually asks her out on a date. When descirbing the date to her he will make it sound very romantic. ex. picnic on a beach, dinner and a movie, etc. The woman will meet the man and soon find out plans have changed. For some reason the man wants to stay at home. Since the woman likes the man so much she will not think twice about it. She will soon find out that the man only wants to be sexually with her and couldn't give a damn about her, her life, or her personality. But the woman will give into the man, feeling that being physical will make their relationship stronger. When, in reality, the man has no intention of even talking to the woman after that night! The sad thing is that women who gets played usually goes back to the man, thinking, hoping, that there will be a relationship soon to come. But players are just comlete a**holes. They're manipulating and the only "feelings" they have are in the pants. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!
