GALVESTON — The FBI is investigating the death of a 32-year-old woman whose body was discovered in her stateroom aboard a Carnival cruise ship that docked in Galveston on Saturday. The woman, whose name was not released, died Monday a FBI spokeswoman said.
The woman, believe to be a Brazoria County resident, was aboard the Carnival Ecstasy which set sail from Galveston Feb. 15. The FBI was notified on Monday that she had died and agents flew to the ship’s next port of call, Progresso, Mexico on Tuesday, FBI Special Agent Shauna Dunlap said.
Dunlap called the investigation routine to determine if the woman’s death was a result of foul play. The woman’s body was taken to the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office after the ship docked at the Port of Galveston early Saturday morning.
The medical examiner’s office referred all questions to the FBI.

Let me see if I got this right, she was found dead on 2-15 yet her body wasn't taken off of the ship until it return to Galveston on 2-20.

Very sad--but at least the ship has the facilites to store a body and a doctor onboard too---and I sure that it will be easier for her family to retrive her body in the US rather than Mexico---
Some how tons of paper work comes to mind-----
Reports say sge "married a man on the ship" but I dont believe you can get married on Carnival ships.
Its a tragedy, but stuff happens. if it didn't happen on this cruise ship it would ave happened someplace else. You can't blame the cruise line (although I am certain some people will try).

Certainly not as tragic as this, but just as incredible was the cruise we took where a woman on her honeymoon went missing for many hours, the whole ship was searched including cabins, and she was eventually found in the cabin of "another man"!
You certainly can't blame the cruise lines, it's the people!!
Well I guess I will get some sort of first hand info on this--since I have a friend who has a friend that was aboard the ship when it happened--heard--
My friend e-mailed me from her hotel -she headed home from Seoul Korea--post Princess cruise----gosh this is making the headlines in the inner
cruise world--
Sad--very sad

This is odd - the story originally said she was beaten to death - now they are saying there is no evidence of trauma and they are doing a toxicology study. They don't know what happened to her.
Quote:
An initial forensic examination of a woman found dead aboard a cruise ship revealed no signs of traumatic injury, authorities said Monday.
Kipi Holcomb, 32, of Brazoria County, was found dead Feb. 15 in her room after the Carnival cruise ship Ecstasy left its home port of Galveston.
Upon the ship’s return to Galveston on Saturday, the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy, John Florence, a spokesman for the medical examiner’s office, said.
“There was no evidence of trauma in an initial look Saturday,” Florence said, noting the investigation would continue today.
The cause of Holcomb’s death will be determined pending a toxicology report, which can take from two to three weeks, Florence said.
KHOU TV Channel 11 reported on its Web site that Holcomb was aboard the ship with her fiance, who discovered her body Monday morning, the first day of their five-day cruise.
The FBI, which is investigating Holcomb’s death, said Saturday there was no evidence of foul play.

The family of the victim is totally supporting the boyfriend/husband, and is upset that he is under suspicion, and the way that he was treated by Carnival.

This really hits my button - look at how the cruise lines have been made responsible for everything that happens on a ship by special interest groups who are out to do nothing other than defame the cruise industry. These groups along with their pressure from our government have forced the cruise lines the try to be mind readers in these cases.
They don't know who to trust in these cases, and they have to be prudent. What if the guy got away? It is their job to hold him at least as long as until the FBI can take over.
The same thing happened with Jennifer Hagel Smith. Need I say how she looked in her own case? (disappeared from sight, turned up passed out in a hallway, went to bed and didnt notice anything wrong at 4:00 am, got up and went to a massage even though George was still missing). Then later she had Oprah force Royal Caribbean to apologize for "the way they treated her"

Yes...from the link you posted The Police News it was written:
"The other news web sites are saying there was no evidence of a beating and no foul play is suspected. Who is your source? "
Nice try Santa. Just wait and see what develops. Editor "
So now indeed we do need to look at the "sources" ?

The other comments on the site refer to that muck-raking cruise site which shall go unmentioned.
The sensationalism about cruiisng continues to amaze me. Why have some people just chosen cruising as their punching bags - seemingly for no reason. And most of the people in this category hardly even know anything real about the industry.

One cannot only see but actually experience what while not for everyone, is nevertheless for almost 13 million Americans annually, a wonderful means of combining traveling, hotel and restaurant service and yes, even entertainment..........and as we love to say, "You only having to unpack one time."
The anti-cruise people in effect do not offer any positive similar alternative. Additionally, most have attempted to capitalize on what in some instances, was an individually bad experience. You will note that at least one of these sites has attempted to actually make a business out of their corrosive remarks.
Are they successful? No, they're really not. Why? The answer is easy. Positive experience sells. Negative experience doesn't.
