I think it looks like a Japanese POW camp but I may be way off.

I have no clue, but I don't know that I could live under ground like that -tho I suppose it must be cooler.

Interesting photo Ray, do you know if the reason the hut was built into the ground like that is to make it cooler?
Using that theory, I would guess the location is somewhere extremely hot and humid, maybe a jungle somewhere in the Amazon?

This is a native hut we saw while visiting a National Park in New Zealand.

Lombard you must have recognized the logs.
