The Voyager of the Sea is stuck in fog and unable to port in Galveston this evening.

That's interesting --- The Voyager of the Seas should have come in about the same time that the Conquest arrived. Forecast is saying the fog will hang around until the 2:00 - 3:00 a.m., when a front comes through. Wonder what they're doing with all the passengers waiting to board? What a frustrating way to start/end your vacation. No one's fault, though.

Those Voyager Class ships are tough 'ombres. Why don't they just keep blowing the fog horn and keep going slow until they come to a stop, like against something solid!

Todd,

Even though your comment is in jest, your point is well taken.

With all of the advanced navigation technology we have, why isn't this ship able to navigate to its mooring? This ship has several surface-scan radar systems, it can navigate by radar and radio transmissions from buoys, it has a foghorn to warn of its approach, it has searchlights.

Or it could go with a low-tech approach: put a tender in the water, 100 yards ahead of the ship, with the ship following at dead slow.
