Wednesday is here, and it looks just every other day of the past week - gray and dull! Yesterday it got very mild and melty and the sun even peeked out for awhile, hoping it will do the same today.
Congrats to Canada for another Gold Medal last night in SKi Cross.
Maybe we got another in ladies figure skating, but I couldn't stay up late enough to watch!
Actually I was still reeling from yet another astonishing episode of LOST.
I don't know how I am still following it, but I try. It is just so riveting and so confusing at the same time!
This morning I am going to attempt something I haven't done in years - ice skating! I have always been a good rollerskater, but ice skating has not been so easy for me. I got myself a new pair of sturdy skates last weekend, and I will try them out this morning before work. Just hope I don't injure myself!
RD you be careful on those skates, don't want any broken bones! My grandaughter is wanting to go ice skating but we have nowhere close for her to try it. I suggested we take a trip to Gatlinburg to take her to Ober Gatlinburg where they used to have a rink you could use. Don't know if they still have it or not, been years since we were there.
A thank you out to BW for sending us her snow! Yes it is snowing here again today with the forecast of it continuing for several days. So hoping they are wrong as D/H has a weekend square dance to call in Marietta, Oh. It is about a 2 hr drive for us and I sure don't want to be fighting snow all the way there.
Today I have to take some food items to a friend. Their 41 yr old daughter died on Sunday morning. It is just so sad for her family and friends.
Everyone have a good day and prayers continue to all those in need.
R/D, definitely BE CAREFUL. While you're certainly not "long in the tooth," you're still getting to be a tad beyond the dare devil stage. We need not see a photograph of you with your arm in a cast to go along with James's.
Sue, yes the ice rink is still there! When I was a youngster, that is where we occasionally went ice skating but one had to drive to the top of the mountain as the huge cable cars came much later. While over the years we'd been over to Gatlinburg several times when we'd come down home on vacation, I never thought to check about the ice rink and Fran was too apprehensive to go up the mountain on the "new" cable cars. Upon our permanent return home almost fourteen years ago we "cast caution to the wind" and so up the mountain on the cable cars we went. The ice rink was almost as if I'd been there the night before except the "night before" had been almost thirty years earlier!
Today is our "church" day so a bit later we'll be off to town. Prayers continue for all on the list and Blessings upon every one of my CruiseMates.
Hi Kids,
The bad weather we re told about for yesterday, and today, just isn't happening, and it's just rain here so far...I say GOOD! I have to go to the dentist in a short while so, I just want to go and get home....
For Cruisemates who may not remember..yrs ago we used to have chat from 9-11, with east coast hosts, taking the first hour, and west coast hosts taking the 2nd hr....One of our hosts, DJ Bob, came into chat last night, and it was so nice to her about his lifes update... He met his wife here, and this was the first marriage of 2 Cruisemates,,,,,,They are living in Vegas, and worling in the hotel business, and it was great to hear form him...
Bruce is still on his Chinese food kick, just hetting a new wok, so tobight supper is on him, and I say YAYAYAYAYAY!......although he tried to kill me, with an overdose of that 5 spice powder he HAD to buy from Ebay, and then he saw for 99 cents everywhere...that taste still lingers ...oy!
Make it a good one kids....

Indeed it is a good morning, because the phone hasn't rang once and it is almost 9:00 a.m. I am also happy because I have a client who was in a huge hurry to get a T1 circuit (High Speed Internet) installed because his old provider is discontinuing service at the end of the month. Well I didn't get the signed contracts back until last week and since I generally ask for 30 days to get these things installed, I was getting a little stressed. I was very relieved to get a due date notification stating it would be installed 3/1/10. Wow that never happens! Let's hope no one screws it up .
Yesterday d/h ended up working from home, it was really nice because I was able to get a little more done and actually leave the house for a short while to pick up a few items I needed. Toward the end of the day the sun actually came out. I had forgotten what it looked like. The snow was just a light dusting then I sent it on down to Sue's .
I am not happy to admit defeat in fighting the mealybugs on my tropical plants with the mealybug predator bugs I bought. Not sure if they were duds or they just gave up, perhaps the ladybugs that were hiding out there killed them I don't know but the mealybugs were taking over and the predators are no where to be found. So I decided that I wasn't giving up without a fight so I decided to kill the buggers by opening the windows out in the sunroom and freezing them to death. They say the plants should survive temps of 36 degrees or higher and that should be cold enough to kill the bugs so about 4:00 a.m. I woke and went back out and closed the windows since it was about 23 outside. Not sure if this will work but I figure if I can't get them under control the plants will die, if they freeze they will die, so this is really the only chance. In a bit I'll go out and see if anything is moving. Cross your fingers... spring cannot get here fast enough for me!
According to those who are paid to be wrong, as Kuki puts it, we should start seeing the temps rise in about a week to 10 days. So I figure I have about 5 bags of pellets out in the truck to burn so I better use them up.
Well d/s is up and at 'em he is so busy and cannot sit still, as a result he fell down at least 3 times yesterday. I just stood by helplessly as he went flying into the living room about 30 feet away from me and just fell over sideways, I thought I should yell something like "timber" . When I got back home from errands, d/h said he did a very beautiful faceplant when he got moving too fast. He's a funny kid, I sure hope he survives the next several weeks. His arms are getting really muscular from using the crutches, and I am hoping the extra exercise is going to make his recovery even speedier than the first. Right now I am watching him cruise around on the same furniture he used to learn how to walk with. Funny.
Well that's about it for excitement today. Hope you all have a good one. BTW Sue we are expecting more snow today, and when it's done here, it's headed your way
Good afternoon, everybody. Gettin' ready to rain here. Somebody's coming by this afternoon to prune trees. Don't know if he'll get wet or not. I have to decide whether I want to sit for a couple of hours at the clinic to be seen in urgent care or just let this conjestion and cough go on for the fourth week til my doctor gets back.
Ooops, there's the rain! Donna, don't get hurt on those skates!
Good afternoon CruiseMates, the good news is the rain has stopped for now. The weatherman says more over the next few days, with rain and thunder on Friday. I suppose we need the rain, but I am getting tired of it and long for Spring. At least you don't have to shovel rain, right! Take care all, Mike
