Default TGIF at 0615 hrs EDT and Nobody's Up?

Here Friday is soon to dawn, the day in the week to which everyone looks forward (at least those who work at any rate) and here there is not a sole to meet it.

C', mon you lazy bones (to use a term someone used just the other day that I hadn't heard since I was a kid), get outta' bed, get your shower and that first gallon of coffee down and get ready for the weekend.

Gosh, I'd love to hear something from Henry. I'm sure he's doing fine but I know a lot of us would like to be reassured.

Geez, so many of you guys including Mike and Rollerdonna are getting ready for their cruises I've kind of lost track. I know there are still others out there. Am hoping and praying Mike, that you get a good enough report to go.

Yesterday I was a lurker, running around as the proverbial chicken who just had his head lopped off from one appointment to the next, many involving our cat, Big Winston The Huge, Sumo Wrestler Extraordinnaire

It's supposed to be downright hot and we're having a handyman come and help pressure wash the house, clear out some brush and small trees and other chores I can no longer do.

Our physician and friend, JR , sat me down and informed me that now included in my COPD is Emphysema. I just looked at him and said, "I just figured ten years ago that if a coronary didn't cancel my ticket that would, so is that the best you can do for the "headline" news you have this week? Geesh, with that look on your face I thought it would be something at least more dramatic."

Sometimes I just shake my head. I know, maybe I can call up one of those "1-800 Sue Them" lines but then again, too little too late as the Tobacco has all been distributed to all those folks who had absolutely no idea that smoking could every be a very bad health issue. Helloooo, any kind of smoke inhalation can kill you... Talk about ignorance.

Also, what about "ambulance chasers," IMHO they should throw those ads off TV. Heck, no one with a high school education would probably use a "lawsuit chain" even if they did have a case. I love the one years ago on "60 Minutes" about the woman who sued, won something along the lines of two million and not only ended up not receiving one dime but to add insult to injury, she had to pay an enormous amount of Federal Taxes on the award!! Her "judgement in her favor" ended up costing her thousands. Of course her legal team ended up rolling in the dough.

As it were, I built my own bed so I'm certainly not going to get someone to fund my life as a result.

Enough proselytising. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!

Prayers and Blessings continue especially today for Henry and Mike.

Todd

Good morning Todd and all the Cruisemates on land and sea.

I'm just waiting for 8:00 a.m. to call and find out if I have an alien life form growing on my forearm. I am really expecting a good report. The thing has shrunk down to 1/10th the size it was on Wednesday when I went to the ER. My sinuses are almost clear and my coughing is much less.

I have gone ahead as if I was going on the cruise and I have all my stuff in the bedroom waiting for the woman with the packing gene to pack it all up. I was hoping to be able to get the lawn mowed but the rain outside is putting a hold on that. If I can't get it mowed tomorrow then I will return home from the cruise to a jungle. Maybe Betty will mow the lawn? Yeah and maybe I'll get a pier upgrade to the Presidents Suite.

I hope RD's back is better and that all Cruisemates have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend.

Take care,
Mike

Good Morning CruiseMates,
Well my lazy bones were rousted bright and early by the recurring snooze alarm. It would appear the hubby hit snooze instead of the off button. D/H left for work about 20 minutes ago and d/s woke up and came out to say Good Morning and immediately fell back to sleep on the sofa. So the little pickle bump is now laying there snoring. I am going to have to wake him and his sissy soon since they are going over to the Grandma's in a bit to spend the day stuffing their pie holes and fishing at the dock behind their house. Unfortunately, the boat isn't in the water yet, so they will be land locked on the dock. But they don't care. It will be lots of fun. Whilst they are engaged in all that fun stuff I intend to pick up the rest of of my landscaping and gardening stuff.

D/H is getting geared up for his trip to Edmonton. He is so excited to see his old friend. I think he'd kind of given up on them getting together again for a long time since they live so far away from one another.

My little furry house guest is becoming a big baby. He had some issues because he had been neglected and ignored for so long, he craves affection but after a point even though he enjoyed being held and petted it was I think overwhelming and he would get overstimulated and then unexpectedly bite (very hard) so I have been working with him to get past that, and help him work it out. So every day he gets a little more control and tolerance to being touched and loved. It's sad because he craves the attention. I walk in his room and I am immediately greeted by meows and nuzzles and the when I sit down he is rubbing all over my feet and last night he wanted on my lap but he didn't know if it was OK to just jump up on me, so he put his front paws on my knee, standing up on his rear legs resting against my legs. Finally I picked him up and he got lots of pets and lovins and holds and once his tail starts to twitch he gets put gently down and we resume later once he isn't so overwhelmed. It is sad the little guy wants love, but he just can't handle it for very long. The good news, is the neighbors who have neglected this little guy for so long, should be moving soon, as it appears their house is now sold. I cannot say I will miss the chickens roaming the neighborhood freely or their dogs and cat running loose. I am worried about one of their dogs though. Not sure what will happen to her without the great neighbors here to take care of her. It is very sad. I am certain of one thing...this cat will not be joining them!

Todd, you know you are on my mind daily. Hang in there buddy. Prayers are on the way!

Too bad I didn't hear your wake up call a little earlier Todd, I was supposed to be up and ready to leave soon, but overslept.
I have a hairdresser appointment in town, and before that I wanted to do a few errands, but I guess the errands will have to wait until after the hair...

It is a perfectly yucky day out there today, cold, rainy and bleak, but I must say that things are greening up nicely and leaves and buds sprouting everywhere. It should really look like spring by the time we get back from the cruise.
Speaking of which, I am STILL not packed, but I did manage to sit on pillows and a heating pad and iron a pile of clothes yesterday, so I am a little closer.
I will get hubby to drag my suitcase out of the garage today and hopefully be packed by tonight.

The back is still giving me grief. It's extremely painful, I walk funny, and can't get comfortable whether I'm sitting or lying down. I will continue to medicate, heat and rest as much as I can....
Mike, I hope your "alien life form" disappears and you get the go ahead for your cruise!
Henry, thinking of you too, hope you are not in too much pain.
Oh, and Kuki? don't hurt YOUR back shoveling all that SNOW!!

Better get moving...

donna

Default Going Cruisin'

I just got off the phone with the hospital and my culture was negative for MRSA. It's just good old cellulitis and the antibiotics are working just fine so I am good to go.

So Sunday at 7:00 a.m. I am off to Miami and then on to the Century. :-D:-D

Take care,
Mike

Donna have you tried Ice instead of heat? Doctors told me it helps to reduce the swelling.

Good morning,
With my son away on his trip I thought I’d sleep in today only to have hubby call me and tell me the fence guy was on his way . Also the water heater is out so no shower for me right now. My son called home last night around 10:30 pm full of energy. They had visited House on the Rock, Cave in the Mound and had a tour of the Harley Davidson factory. Around 10:00pm I gave up on him calling home I’m starting to realize he’s growing up and mom is no long his life. It’s kind of sad. Other then that not to much going on.
Mike …Great news!!
RD… can you call your doctor and get a muscle relaxer or strong anti-inflammatory ?

Wow, that's a long title for somebody who's barely awake! The sun is streaming in and the wind seems to be gone.

Mike, nice to hear that you're good to go.
Donna, I hope you do all the above: ice, doctor, and pain killer.
Todd, I'm sorry the doctor didn't have better news for you, and I hope Fran is doing well.

Gym day for Keith and not much planned for me.

Enjoy!

Good Morning cruisemates! Our winter storm warning produced about 20% of the snow it predicted, but wind gusts were high. Most snow melted as it it hit, except on rural roads where it made things a mess for travel. Temps are going to remain in the high 30s F, so it's still YUCKY.

Finished up with my accountant, Noel Little, yesterday, so we'll see if I end up in jail after filing my taxes.

Today I'm going to make dinner. Hope Mrs. Kuki likes Hungry Man frozen dinners.

Donna.. I have ongoing back issues. My doctor (who's a sports medicine specialist who treats the Canadian National hockey team) says heat is the worst thing to do for a back. Ice it! And keep icing it... as much as you can stand!

All this different advice for RD's back. So I will toss in my two cents and hope it helps. I usually put a damp face cloth on my heating pad and lie on that. It seems to work well for me. Whatever you choose to do I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks everyone for all your remedies! Yes, I have tried ice as well as heat, alternately is good, according to my physical therapist back in Montreal, where they also treat sports teams.
I still have painkillers and anti-inflammatories from the last bout with this, and I am trying to do without them because they make my stomach so sick and mess up the bowel system. I may just give in this afternoon and take a painkiller and lie down!

Mike, so glad to hear you go the go ahead! Bon voyage, I'll wave to you from my balcony somewhere in the Caribbean!

A day in the upper 70's looms for Virginia Beach. This morning, after I did my usual Friday morning cleaning of the house, Rob and I dropped off a bunch of old televisions and clothing at a nearby thrift shop. Yep, we are packrats and it's hard to part with old stuff. But, there comes a time and a place where the clutter just gets too much. After that, we went to a favorite Thai restaurant for a great lunch. This weekend I still have to go through tons of clutter. I was wondering, who of my fellow cruisemates are packrats?
