Default ladies' Formal Poll with a twist..

I decided to do a twist on the normal ladies formal dress. These dresses are all influenced by different cultures. Chose the one you are most likely to wear on formal night on a cruise ship.

Dress A (Chinese style)

Dress B (Indian Sari)

Dress C (Hawaiian Muu Muu)

Default Ladies Formal Poll with a Twist

I chose A, but B would have been a good choice, too. They were beautiful. C was too cutsie for me.

I would chose "B" because it goes the best with a man wearing a black suit

Had to vote A, love that dress. Actually many years ago I had a dress in that style, my aunt had bought it for me while she was on a world tour. But I was never able to wear it because the hips area was way too small.

For my figure B would most likely look the best on me and it would be a very good choice.

C would be be good but only on a less formal line to use for formal night. But it would have to be in that exact fabric.

I have to give the "Mother Thresa" answer to your poll because I would not be caught dead wearing any of them.

(Mother Thresa is the Nun of the Above.)

But seriously, it would be an honor to escort a lady wearing each of them. Ethnic styles of dress that are equivalent to the prescribed attire are quite proper, and all three of those dresses are very becoming!

Norm.

I like A. My wife has two Chinese dresses she bought in China. She always receives compliments when she wears them.

She loves them too. Probably because she spent less than $50.

The mu mu is still a mu mu. Not my idea of a formal dress.

Take care,
Mike

I would vote A, with B coming in second.....you can just not pretty up a mu mu..it still looks like you are going to bed,or doing housework....

Kat, what beautiful dresses, from different cultures! With my *ahem* form, none of these choices would work for me. IMO, all of the dresses would be acceptable for formal wear. I like the Chinese style best!

Norm and Anniegb too funny.:-D I like the type of things you don't see everyday and someone asked about wearing a Sari for formal night. I love the way a Sari looks.

I agree with the ruffles the Muu Muu looks a little to young for me. But that dress is more suited to a teenager. Here is the same dress without the ruffles. This would not be a Muu Muu in my opinion (I could be wrong). But I think it looks more grown up and elegant. I love the print, not to many formal gowns with a print on them.

Actually the Hawaiian dress is a Hawaiian Wedding dress with a colorful print fabric instead of all white, so it would be considered formal. It is not really a muumuu since it is more fitted whereas a muumuu is loose and flowing.

I think Halle Berry would look great in Dress A. But you would have to wear a tux like Tom Hanks wore in the movie Big.

I was not being funny - very serious.

IMHO - Formal Nights are so 19th century - I actually feel sorry for the guys who have to eat wearing Tuxedos!

That is why I like Azamara so much - no formal nights!

Consider a couple dressed formally on a cruise, as wearing what they would wear, to your best friends black tie wedding.

Henry my friend...Sharon is cute, but Halle is a classic beauty (think Lena Horne) who will look incredible when she is 75

Halle is 5 years older then Sharon but looks younger..when Sharon gets 50, I bet she will look 50, when Halle turns 50 she will look like she looks today

that's what I love about these boards, we can have a healthy discussion on all topics..and can acknowledge that "we like, what we like"

My wife sometimes wears dresses in the Chinese style. She has a great body and that style really hugs her curves!

Well since it's all about which of choices A ~ C you most likely wear ... I had to go with choice A ... But then later I see there has been an addition ... I much prefer the Hawaiian dress without the red ruffles, and would wear the one below cause it is sssooooooo cute
