Nope, neither one, in my hood!

Not long ago "I spied" a phone a booth and pointed it out to my husband. It is so rare that you see one!

I can't recall the last time I actually saw a phone booth. We have a phone in the vestuble at my store and there is also a mail box around the corner, but those lately are few and far between...It would be tough for Clark Kent to change these days.

Mailbox = yes.
Phone booth? Isn't that what we have cars for - to sit in while we make calls?

We actually have a post office within walking distance of our house (probably 1.5 miles) but Clark would be SOL if he needed a phone booth to change in.

Lots of mailboxes in my area . We only have one diner in my entire town .Until quite recently there was a phone booth on the premises . Some Manhattan hotels have phone booths in the lobby .

Venice, if there were a phone booth or mail box in my hood, I'd never get my jacket on.

Sorry, I just couldn't resist!

I either put mail in my own mailbox or if I'm in town I go by the post office. I rarely use drop boxes although there are still quite a few around. I honestly can't tell you the last time I saw a phone booth.

If Superman were around today, he would no doubt have a Blackberry with some built in gizmos and drive around in a BMW.
When he needed to quickly change into his super-duper Superman's outfit, he'd pull over to the side, and as he slid across the seat and out the other door he'd already be changed into Superman, fly off with his BMW and set it down somewhere safe until he could return for it later.
I haven't seen a full sized phone booth in years but there's several mail boxes around fairly close to my little plot of turf here in the hood !!

Ron...Superman would probably be into a Green environment so he would be driving a Prius instead of a BMW

he probably would not have a Blackberry because that would be too easy for Lois Lane and his City Editor and TMZ to keep track of him ::

since he was born outside of the United States and his step parents never could produce a birth certificate, I think he would avoid certain parts of our country and he could not go on a cruise because he could not obtain a passport..he would have the laser operation for his eyes, so he would not need those thick glasses to see thru buildings and he could not fly over the White House because he would violate the no fly zone and be shot down by F-16's...if he was leaping tall buildings with a single bound, the cops would drug test him and if he were faster than a speeding bullet, CSI Miami crime lab could still pin a crime on him...and he could never fly commercial on an airplane because the TSA security checkpoint would put him on the no fly list because of that big "S" on his shirt

We do have a mail box here in this apartment complex. I have not seen a telephone booth since that memorable scene in "Jumping "Jack Flash" Where Whoopie Goldberg was being towed away in the telephone booth.

1 mail box, and NO phone booth that I can think of. In fact, I don't remember the last phone booth that I've seen? Of course, being a Vietnam vet, I don't remember anything,,,,except flashbacks!

Not a booth to be seen, and fewer drop boxes..pay phones, I still see. Anyone else remember having the mailman come twice a day?

I remember the mailman coming twice a day. The maibox was at the bottom of our hill back in those days. I was the one that had to go down twice a day to retrieve the mail.

Growing up in a rural area we never had twice a day mail service. We were lucky to get our mail five times a week. Saturday mail service was dependent on if the backup mail man showing up.

Take care,
Mike

We have a mail box at the post office, and no phone booths. I am doing research for London, and that's the first thing I noticed, was the big red phone booths.

I have tried to remember, and I just can't remember twice a day delivery.

There are mail boxes in my town. Mail used to be picked up twice a day - 1PM and 4PM. I noticed a new sticker on the box stating pick up would be only once a day at 3PM. There is a "decorative" phone booth in a shopping center near where I live. It is painted RED and looks like the kind found in London. However, there is no phone in it. Superman could easily use it to change clothes, but not make a phone call.

I am planning a trip to London in the fall of 2011. The tax thing for military has changed. Use to after 90 days it was tax free income. Now it is the same, unless you come back to the states, for R and R, and then you have to wait 90 days again before tax break. Jim and I are meeting in London for his R and R

Luanne dear, trust me when I say you could never have known when they stopped twice a day delivery because unless your parents are much older than am I, they probably were still in grade school when that occurred as twice a day delivery came to an end around 1950 - 51 and I just barely remember. Indeed, I could be "remembering " only as a result of hearing hearing the issue being discussed by the adults when I was a couple of years older following the end of the service. I still, however, think I remember the postman coming twice a day.

I find it strange that they even at the local post office, they now empty the drive-thru boxes once a day as well, at 3:30 pm. Formerly they were emptied at 11:30 am and 4:30 pm.

Luanne...I think the U.S. government will get out of the Post Office business and turn it over to a consortium of private companies in phases within the next 15-20 years ...it is a very cost ineffective business with a huge retirement liability but just like Amtrak, we have to have some form due to the fact that there is still a huge proportion of the population that is not technology oriented and people like me still like to go to my mailbox and get my monthly issue of Playboy instead of reading it in an electronic format
