Default US Beaches

This morning I read where Crescent Beach on Siesta Key off Sarastota Fl is ranked 2nd of the ten best beaches in the US for 2010 by "Dr. Beach." The reason I noted that was that it is my favorite beach of those I've visited in the US and one we've visited several times as my wife's niece has a gorgeous condo on Siesta Key that we have visited on several occasions.

As it turns out, I've also been (many years ago) to his number one rated beach in Southhampton, NY.

I was wondering therefore, what is your favorite Beach here in the United States.

For those not living in this country who have not visted a beach here, what is your favorite beach, if any, where you live? For those in this country who have never been to a beach here, what is your favorite destination in the US?

Todd

I'm really not much of a "Beach Guy", but when I worked for Broward County Sheriffs Office, I LOVED going out to Ft. Lauderdale Beach.....Didn't get a lot of chance to lounge around there, but it was always a treat when I did get to go. Clearwater Beach, Florida isn't bad either!

It's been a while since I was in Oahu, Hawaii. But Hanauma bay is a great beach bring frozen peas to feed the fish. I also enjoyed Waikiki beach.

San Diego has Mission Beach, La Jolla and Coronado. I've been to alot of beaches in Southern California. Its hard to choose just one.

Henry,

For a short time I lived in Brighton Beach and I've been to Jones Beach (who in NY hasn't ).

Ken, Clearwater Beach was the beach we went to when I was a kid in '60-'61 and we lived just outside Tampa about 15/20 miles from Tarpon Springs. I'm not really a beach person either Ken, I just love watching sunrises and sunsets over them. My father, who had been all over the world, always said that the most beautiful sunsets were in South America. Then when he saw the ones over the Gulf of Mexico he declared that they were every bit as beautiful as those in South America.

I have a close aquaintance in La Jolla, Phil, who lives only a block or two from the beach.

I'd love to be able to visit Venice Beach as well along with of course, the beaches in Hawaii, Kat and Venice. Those trips, I'm afraid, just aren't in the cards. But then again, one should never say "never."

Cocoa Beach since we can be there in just under an hour.
Seaside Park in NJ, specifically Brighton Ave. or F St. beach since that's where we spent summers growing up.

Ah yes...the sunsets from the West Coast Beaches of Florida are sometimes breathtaking!
I had forgotten about La Jolla California. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

Default US Beaches

Boy, this thread surely brings back memories from when I worshipped the sun! Todd, my dream trip to South America probably isn't in the cards, either, but as you say, one never knows.

My beach days are long over, but my favorite local beach is Corona del Mar State Beach in Newport Beach. Keith and I still like to spend a little time down there sitting on the grass just admiring the awsome view from the bluff. I used to visit Santa Monica Beach and Huntington Beach, too, in my younger days.

One of the most beautiful beaches I remember was in Barbados. Can't remember the name.

Kea (?sp) on Kauai, Waikiki Beach, and now some really not well known beaches........Bradford Beach in Milwaukee and the beach in Bailey's Harbor on the Door County Peninsula (both on Lake Michigan). And a really really remote beach on Lake Superior in Keeweenaw Bay - Second Sand Beach near L'Anse in the Upper Peninsula.

#l if you want scenic BakerBeach which is west of the GoldenGate Bridge,
so it has a wonderful view of the bridge, plus across the bay to the marin
headlands. And it is clothing optional.
