One of the best things about this site is your articles--your information about the ships, practical advise and general information(the art auctions that really are not). I know you have stated you think few people read them but I am new to cruising and I find them interesting and useful.
I truely believe this is the best board by far. I do venture over to the other site, if I can't find something I am looking for on CM. I found CM after my first cruise, when I was searching for another cruise. I couldn't believe the wealth of information I found on this site, and wished I had found it before my first cruise. Although I don't post much, but when I do, I don't feel like anyone will bash me for it. I've come to know many of you by or posts and feel like we are somehow friends. When someone request prayers, they are sent even if I don't post it. (I'm a little shy)
I think you guys are awesome and always refer my fellow cruisers to your site.

Roberta, your kind words about Cruisemates is much appreciated, as well as your sllent prayers. This is a friendly place for sure, and in that spirit, so much information changes hand. We all learn from the collective knowledge posted here by so many....Your paying forward, of this site, is part of that spirit.......

Chat Hostess & Board Moderator
See, I always tell people there are people watching who do not post. All the time, about 40 people for every one poster I have heard it estimated. No one should underestimate the reach these boards have!
Roberta - rest assured we never forget about people like you!
I constantly remind our moderators (just ask them) that people are reading these boards who do not post. When you are an early cruiser for example, or a little shy, maybe you just feel like observing. There is no problem with that.
I agree regarding the postings on the other site. But lets be honest we all visit that site to monitor discussions on our upcoming cruises and sign up for meet & mingle. Then surprisingly find some very nice people we meet @ the M&M gathering and enjoy time with them on our cruises.
The other site has so many more contributors meaning there are that many more bad posts. We have a tentatively to remember the bad ones. IMO there is no higher % of bad apples their than here or any other cruise discussion sites.
I am being honest ! I have never visited the other site.
Carnival Liberty New Year's Eve 2007
Liberty of the Seas 5/2008+11/2009
Allure 1/16/ 2011
Independence of the Seas 12/29/2013 Top-notch!
I can honesty count the number of times I go there every year on one hand, but I have my reasons. I don't ever want my editorial to be driven by what is happening over there, it would be too obvious, obseqious and reactionary.
As far as message contributors, of course they have more, and I don't know why, but they do.
As a noderator I have to say I am glad we don't have many of the people they have over there, but I definitely wish we had more of the kind of people we used to have here when we started up - before there was so much competition.
At one time our boards were very active, and I honestly don't know what happened although I can cite a few technical glitches that really seemed to hurt us (mostly with this last upgrade to vBulletin where they made everyone re-login without a decemt password notification system. At the same time we had a denial of service attack that lasted over a week, we still have not recovered many of our users from before that).
