I think you're referring to "It Must Be Him" by Vikki Carr. 1966. Actually, I kind of liked that song, and hadn't heard it for a long long time until I looked it up for you.

I agree with the poster about MacArthur Park.....both versions suck!

But, Disco Duck by Rick Dees? Absolute Worst Song Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't mind American Pie or Louie Louie.

And I agree that any Crap Rap is TERRIBLE!

I love Seasons In The Suns..........but I hate it is about suicide.

For you Bay City Roller fans, I just read this past evening in a magazine insert in today's paper that the group disbanded in 1981. However the lead singer rebuilt it and they tour about 60 dates a year.

Those who like Jay and the Americans may be interested to know that they're still touring and will be appearing in our local performing arts center on Saturday evening.

Todd: It will be without Jay Black .He was sued by the original band members and cannot appear under that name .He does appear in a modified version with his son Beau .

The group that tours as Jay and the Americans I believe only has one original member .

Aerogirl, you posted that video of Terry Jacks singing "Seasons in the Sun", and someone mentioned it was a song about suicide. Funny, but I never thought of it that way, so I had to torture myself and go listen to the video.
It was torture, but you're probably right, "Michelle" probably committed suicide when she heard that song!

The only good thing about checking out that video was on the same page, a couple of videos of Hermans' Hermits. Peter Noone was, to me, the most adorable of the 60's Pop artists. Check out "Mr. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter", he is just so cute and shy and awkward, and now I know where Justin Bieber got his hair-do from!!

YouTube - Hermans Hermits - Mrs. Brown you've got a lovely daughter 1965

just for the record..there are several variations of rap, the version that everybody hates (including myself) is gangster rap..however before he became a movie superstar a young Will Smith did clean rap and some of his songs (Parents Just Don't Understand) were actually pretty good and very danceable..don't forget the singer who did alot of rap was the late great James Brown..Blondie did rap also and sold alot of songs

the song I can't stand is "Saying Something Stupid " by Frank and Nancy Sinatra..makes me want to throw up

with Sirrus radio one should never have to listen to music that they don't like

Some artists are just as good in 2010 as they were 50 years ago:

Kenny Vance
Anthony Gourdine
Dion

I don't have a song that I hate, but I agree with Mike that some are played way to much. Remember when "You Light Up My Life" came out? Could they have played it 90 million more times?

Another is "On The Road Again"

Trivia: Charles Manson tried out for the Monkees

Do you ever get a song stuck in your head? Tonight we were getting the walls ready for next weeks paint, and I caught myself singing the Casper the Frendly Ghost song. Probably haven't heard it in 20 years.

Okay so it looks like I'm that only one that like Rap. Actually my IPOD looks like I have multiple personality disorder. There is no catogory of music I don't like. So I have Rap, Rock, Heavy Metal, Country, Classical, Broadway musical, Latin, Disco on there. On the Rap side I have the lighter stuff Venice was talking about Summertime by Will Smith and Rapture by Blondie. Then I had the heavier stuff as well. As for songs getting stuck in your head two songs are there for life.

One is from the Flintstones.:-D

Here we come on the run
With a burger on a bun
And a dab of coleslaw on the side
Oh your taste we will tickle
With a cold dill pickle
And all of our potatoes are french fried fried fried
Our burgers can't be beat
Because we grind our own meat
grind grind grind grind grind
If Fred Flinstone and Barney Rubble
Think that they're not in a lot of trouble
They're out of their mind mind mind mind mind
They're out of their mind mind mind mind mind

The other one is an old Ben and Jerry's ice cream jingle Okay how I want a burger and ice cream.

There ain’t no Häagen, there ain’t no Dazs,
There ain’t no Frusen, there ain’t no Glädj’
There ain’t nobody named Steve at Steve’s,
But there’s two real guys at Ben & Jerry’s.

I also hated "American Pie" but what I really hated about it was how the radio stations seemed to think it was so great - like "big mystery? when DID the music die?" I really got sick of it.

Ricky Nelson's "Garden Party" was pretty bad. Yeah, I got it, but....

I hated bubblegum. There is no excuse. "Yummy Yummy Yummy I got love in my tummy" coming in the same age when Paul Lynde was a major star...
Chewy Chewy, Sugar Sugar.

"Honey" and "Havin' My Baby" were both awful.

"Hit Me With Your best Shot" The lyrics are awful "You're just another notch in my lipstick kit"

I KNEW the guy who wrote and sang "they're coming to take me away" - Kim Fowley. I worked with him in the recording studio. I loved that song.

I love classic rock (pop) songs like these:

Louie Louie
Wild Thing
Love Potion #9
Wooly Bully
Gloria

I personally liked Disco pretty well, Donna Summer was a CLASSIC artist. "Last Dance, Last Chance" is a great song. Also "Play that Funky Music White Boy".

I hated Punk and pretty much still do. I didn't get and generally still don't.
I also hate Rap of all kind. Can't stand Kanye West.

I could really go on - but worst song ever?

"Do the Freddy" by Freddy and the Dreamers (and I think I actually bought it).

Paul Anka should have been denied admission to the Songwriters Hall Of Fame for writing and singing Having My Baby and I Don't Want To Sleep Alone.

People do like to bash disco, but they really need to consider all the touchy-feely crap that poured out of studios in the 70's. Hence my mention of Seasons In The Sun.

Alone Again (Naturally) was another downer song about suicide.

I didn't care much for American Pie but I did like Don McLean's "Vincent". I grew up in the Hudson Valley and McLean was a presence there in the later 1960's as he ran up and down the river with Pete Seeger on that sailboat, railing about river pollution. He also played in local clubs.

Dave,

I remember Seegar and that sailboat too. He docked it in Beacon. Might still be there for all I know. I was down by the river once and went aboard. Have to say I couldn't figure out what he was so excited about. I guess it was symbolism. I've forgot the name of it. He was a gracious and kind individual even though I didn't cotton to his politics. Until I just checked, I didn't know he was still alive. I think he lived in Cold Spring back then. Probably still does.

Thanks for bringing back some memories.

Todd

The Clearwater. I lived in Columbia County and the sloop would stop in local marinas and across the river occasionally. The local newspaper always made a big deal about it.

My biggest musical surprise was when I learned "The Band" had hung out in Saugerties and I never knew it.

Philmont when I was younger, in the late 50's and through the 60's. We then moved to Claverack and then Hudson. Dutchess County Fair! Great place to end the summer! It was better than ours.

To keep things within topic, I remember the Cowsills played at the Columbia County Fair one year. People laugh at them but they were really quite good. Gimme a head with hair! Long beautiful hair!

just thought of the worst song

"They're Coming To Take Me Away " (ha-ha to the funny farm)

When I was a teenager, I spent some summers in Maine with a girl from Sauquoit. We were pen pals for quite a while. Then I grew up. I still remember the address.

I just heard this song (Teenage Dream) of about 30 seconds & it is now on my worst list. Katy Perry shouldn't sing in that key. I love "They're Coming To Take Me Away " I used a bit of it in my video of Buddy Boy and Charlie playing.
