Default Which version of this song is better?

Okay I have listened to both versions of this song and I like them both.

A. Got to get you into my life Earth, Wind, and Fire. This is from the movie
Sgt pepper's lonely hearts club band so it take a little bit before the song starts.

B. Got to get you into my life the Beatles.

Kat,

Presuming one would have to like the song in the first place to even vote, since I don't, I can't. As if that's not enough heresy, I really didn't care for the Beatles, either.

Beatles: Hands down.

The EWF version reminds me of what I would hear on an elevator in hell.

Many years ago the Ray Coniff Singers made a version of the Rolling Stones "Satisfaction". That was bad. Really bad.

Take care,
Mike

I don't even have to listen, I'd pick the Beatles anytime!
And about Sgt. Pepper (the movie)? Probably the worst movie ever made, DESPITE the fact that it stars my beloved BEE GEES!!!

I was a little kid when I saw that movie and I have to agree with you. I used that clip because it had the Bee Gees. Also I love Earth. Wind, and Fire's outfits way over the top. Did Joe Farcus design clothes in the 70s?

Here's an interesting cover of a modern spiritual:

Okay KAt, since you asked what types of music I like, I enjoy:

With many individual exceptions of course, late 50's through very early 70's top 40,

Light Classical and Light Opera,

Big band (yes, even including Lawrence Welk),

Broadway musicals,

A lot of 40's through 70's movie themes,

Religious music including traditional Hymns, good 'ol foot stompin' Southern Gospel, a lot of today's modern religiously themed music and of course traditional Christmas music (I guess today it's traditional to play, "Grandma' got run over......." ),

Late 50's through 70's country,

Russian, Hungarian, Italian (I gotta' say that in case Fran sees this ), Jewish and Polish music.

Some Latin and Caribbean music.

Dixieland and of course, "New Awlin's" boogie piano.

As you can see, despite my obvious musical faults, my likes nevertheless cover a relatively wide spectrum.

Todd

Aidan,

I'm cracking up.

When Lawrence tried to be "modern" it was hilarious.

I did watch many of his shows though. We only had one TV station where I grew up and The Lawrence Welk show was the only thing on Saturday nights.

Take care,
Mike

The Beatles, are my favorite group .

I still remenber a great quartet the did a great job of singing Beatle songs on the Carnival Sensation. That was over 8 eight years ago. and my DW and I still talk about it every now and then.

Many years ago the show Beatlemania appeared on Broadway .I happened to know the actor portraying Paul McCartney as I worked at the time with his father .The original cast of singers was as close to sounding like the Beatles as possible .I've gone to several Beatles tribute band concerts over the years but they were not even close .

With many individual exceptions of course, late 50's through very early 70's top 40, Sitting on the dock of the bay and try a little tenderness Otis Redding. After Midnight Eric Clayton. I also have songs by Jerry Lee Lewis, James Brown, Janis Joplin and Jefferson Starship.

Light Classical and Light Opera, Music from the Nutcracker my favorite is Act II Coffee.Tarentella the London Symphony

Big band (yes, even including Lawrence Welk), does Cocktails for two by Spike Jones count? Oh I also have Jump, Jive an' wail Louis Prima.

Broadway musicals, Funny honey, Cell Block Tango, all that jazz from the musical Chicago. Mein Herr from Cabaret. Oh I also have songs from Dreamgirls on here.

A lot of 40's through 70's movie themes, Okay you got me here. I do have Luck be a Lady and Fly me to the moon Frank Sinatra. I also have Ain't that a kick in the head and Mambo Italiano Dean Martin. They were both in movies during this period.;-)

Religious music including traditional Hymns, good 'ol foot stompin' Southern Gospel, a lot of today's modern religiously themed music and of course traditional Christmas music (I guess today it's traditional to play, "Grandma' got run over......." ),Carol of the bells for Christmas music. I have other Christmas music it's just not on my Ipod.

Late 50's through 70's country,I have country on here Garth Brook, Joe Diffie, John Michael Montgomery (I swear was my wedding song). The oldest "country" song I have is Charlie Daniels Band the devil went down to Georgia.

Russian, Hungarian, Italian (I gotta' say that in case Fran sees this ), Jewish and Polish music. That's a hard one I think I will use Mambo Italiano Dean Martin again. That's Italian right?

Some Latin and Caribbean music. Corazon Espinado featuring Mana on Carlos Santana's album SuperNatural. I have other songs from that Album, but this one is entirely in Spanish. With that great Santana gutiar.

Dixieland and of course, "New Awlin's" boogie piano. No Dixieland or "New Awlin's" boogie piano. This means I should take my next cruise out of New Orleans so I can add it to my Ipod.;-)

As you can see, despite my obvious musical faults, my likes nevertheless cover a relatively wide spectrum.

Todd
I have a wide spectrum of Music tastes. I have something in my Ipod that everyone will like and at least one song that everyone will hate. I decided to run through your list and put down some of the songs on my Ipod that fit in the catogories you listed. I have 433 songs on my Ipod. So I'm sure I missed some. Also some I kind of pushed I'm not sure Spike Jones counts as big band or Dean Martin as Italian. I have some Portuguese songs in here to that's near Italy. :-D

Sometimes a song has been redone so many times that no one remembers the original artist. For Example; who is the orignial Artist of the song feeling good? This is open to everyone. I just request that you answer the question without doing research on an internet search engine. Here a hint the lastest artist to record this song is Michael Buble he is not that orignial artist.

I did a poll on which version was better for the song Strawberry Letter 23. Most people picked the popluar version done of The Johnson Brothers. Very few people picked the orignial artist Shuggie Otis and I doubt very many people have heard that version of the song. Otis wrote the song for a girlfriend who used strawberry-scented paper when she wrote letters to him. The song talks about her sending him Strawberry Letter 22 the song Strawberry letter 23 is his reply. How is that for romantic.
