Ship in high seas
 

I was watcing GMA, this morning when they showed this newly released video from a cruise ship, off the coast of New Zealand in rough seas....watch the incredible images as, people and furniture collide...amazing footage!

Well Trip this brings back memories of 2008.
The news at the time showed a totally different video of a forward observation bar or area on the lovely (not) Pacific Sun (ex Carnival Jubilee) when a HUGE wave smashed through several windows and flooded the area in question with 3 to 4 inches of water!!!!

I believe one elderly man was killed in the incident and I saw later, pictures of the damage to the bow section of the ship. It is amazing how water can bend solid steel.

I will have to search these forums because I am sure this topic came up at the time.

I remember seeing that on tv, when it happened...just so scary..They, [ABC] news, called this video, a newly released video, from 08..this is just from another vantage point on board. Why newly released, seems odd though....

Took a long time didn't it Trip? But it is faster than the new colour movies of the London Blitz that took nearly 70 years to come out. LOL

If you look very closely after the P&O rep says "I'm not at liberty to discuss....." you'll see the damage to the bow, better be quick on the pause button eh?

If you click on it, to enlarge it, you can really see that one woman in black, get smacked into the pole, and the force of the movement is unreal. That large box like object on the left, really makes some hits too:(

One woman lost the tips of two fingers I believe.

Watch this three or four times in a row, then walk away. You will feel the effects.

I've always wondered why they don't secure heavy cabinetry and other objects for this very reason. Even some of those tables are heavy enough to kill somebody.
