Default Cruise gambler jumps to death

A sad story from the UK Boards posted by their Administrator /robh
Cruise gambler jumps to death - cruises.co.uk - SHOWTHREAD

Cruise gambler jumps to death
A cruise passenger who is believed to have lost more than 400,000 whilst gambling in the casino, has jumped overboard to his death.

The 51 year old, identified as Mr Xu by Hong Kong police, had been playing baccarat aboard the SuperStar Aquarius. The 2-day mini cruise had began on Saturday, and he was in the casino from dinner until approximately 8am the following morning.

Passengers then saw him wandering around the deck for an hour, before he jumped.

Rescue teams were called, but after an hour of searching, Mr Xu's body was found.

Star Cruises is the co-owner of NCL. Gambling is a mainstay for them and their casinos make U.S. and European casinos look nickle and dime. I doubt you would see anyone losing 400,000 pounds or dollars onboard a U.S. or European ship.

There have been many people who have jumped overboard for a lot less.

My condolences to his family.

Take care,
Mike

Default Had Money or Not

Thanks Mike,
I agree for his family it would be very sad and hopefully he did have the monies otherwise would the family have to pay, I do not know.

I had thought that casinos expect a deposit on your account as to what you will gamble but if not then you can see his despair. Had to be other options then taking ones life.

So sad, it ended this way. Hard to comprehend how tough it must be for a family to walk off a ship, under those circumstances....My sympathy as well to the family.
