Mexican investigator in Falcon Lake case beheaded.

Mexican investigator in Falcon Lake case beheaded.

I will remove this if it turns out to be untrue, but I've found it on several web news sites. Not on broadcast news as yet.

If this is true I wonder how this will effect travel to Mexico. This is VERY scary. What is odd is that just this morning I received a promo from a travel group in Cabo with very good prices at several choice resorts. I was considering it, now I'm not sure.

It's bad enough that they are using the photos of David & Tiffany Hartley standing in front of the Carnival Conquest on news reports (at least they do here).

This story started out so heinous, and, if this is true, it is ending on a the same note. The tragedy for everyone involved is heart wrenching. The drug cartels really want the word to get out....stop investigating:(

Manuel October 16th, 2010 11:18 AM

The situation in Mexico is very ugly and most likely will get worse.:-( :-x

Ray, as you probably know by now, this story is very true, and very sad! Most of the border between Texas and Mexico is so sparsely populated, it is very dangerous, indeed!

Lakers Fan October 16th, 2010 03:10 PM

Very ,very scary .

Manuel October 16th, 2010 03:55 PM

My next cruise is on the Allure OTS and we cruising to be on this ship not for the ports. We will stay on the ship when it stops in a Mexican port.

A friend first told me about this via FB only hours after it happened. The link I used updated itself several times as more news became confirmed. It took 12-24 hours before it was even mentioned in the main stream media. I think some of that may be political (the liberal MSM doesn't think we have a border problem). Originally many in the MSM (even Geraldo) thought that Tiffany made up the original story.

We (at least here in Texas) pretty much know the entire story now. They will never find David's body, the jet ski, nor the killers (they were killed by the cartel for screwing up). Los Zetas confirmed a lot of the information to law enforcement including the killing of David Hartley.

Donna October 16th, 2010 07:35 PM

Wow, what a scary story.....Not good PR for Mexico for sure.

Snoozeman October 16th, 2010 09:38 PM

You want scary? Read about Los Zetas on Wikipedia. They have a plan to take the drug war across the border. Talk about a 'clear and present danger' to the United States.

Los Zetas

the drug war is already being felt in some of our cities.

Mexican Drug Cartel

I think (could be wrong), that it was President Reagan who said that drugs threaten the very independence of the United States and made moves to involve the US Navy, coast guard, and marines in the anti-drug efforts throughout the western hemisphere, especially on the drug route from Colombia all along the coast of Central America, Mexico, and then into the US of A. This is a monstrous organization who have no scruples, no moral values, are cold snakes with extreme venom, and what is worse, buy off officials in every country through which they move, including police, judges, politicians (who come cheap anyway). Know what the drug barons' biggest problems are in Central and South America? Rats. They eat the billions of US dollars tacked in containers (the barons cannot bank their money). Know what we are fighting? The barons move around their countrysides regularly, giving away $10,000 packets of US currency to poor people of their areas of influence. Imagine what that wins them. The USA needs to simply issue a declaration of war against these monsters, and carry the war legitimately to its end.

Snoozeman October 17th, 2010 05:04 PM

Yes it was and we need another Reagan. The current US Gov't is really not prepared to defend the border, but Texas is ready as best as can be. Gov. Perry has a contingency plan using the Texas Guard and Texas Rangers to respond to a coordinated attack on local law enforcement agencies on the border.

We did finally get a Predator B drone based in Corpus Christi that is used for border intelligence.

Manuel October 17th, 2010 05:56 PM

Of course if there was no demand and no customers for drugs in the USA we would not have a drug problem.

You can call out the Army and the Marines or the Air Force, but as long as Americans are willing to pay for the stuff someone will bring it here.

Both supply and demand must be attacked. 3 strikes and yer out for a user is a poor way of addressing demand as witnessed in California. Dealers on the other hand should be afraid of the authorities as much as the cartels.

Lakers Fan October 17th, 2010 08:30 PM

If the governments of the countries involved wanted to get rid of the problem they could . Its the same thing with the proliferation of gangs

Snoozeman October 17th, 2010 08:34 PM

They actually had a piece on the NBC news this evening about the Mexican Drug wars. They said the $ generated by drugs is as large as the Mexican oil business. Wow. I guess we need to consider legalizing drugs if we can't win the drug war.

Lakers Fan October 17th, 2010 08:37 PM

I've been in favor of legalizing drugs since 1964 .

Luvtotrvl October 17th, 2010 10:48 PM

Drugs

Consider the punishment on conviction for drug dealers in this country, and the punishment on conviction for drug dealers in a couple far east countries - death by firing squad.

Legalizing a dangerous substance (and there is such a wide variety of potent drugs which cause havoc among humans) is a disastrous road to take. Just imagine methane, coke and crack cocaine available legally, and the awful danger to our young.

The drugs are mostly produced in other countries and smuggled into the USA. You want to tell me with our modern, advanced systems of detection and interdiction, and our tremendous weaponry, transport, and manpower, we cannot stop it all? Heck, yes, but for the little word called "corruption". Now that's where the real problem lies.

Anybody know what the penalty is for narco trafficking in Cuba?

Lakers Fan October 17th, 2010 11:55 PM

It should be up to the individual as to what they desire to enter their body .Its not up to the government to regulate it . If you are concerned about our youth then don't send them off to an immoral war to die in the name of oil .

Lisa October 18th, 2010 02:00 AM

Only when we fully protect our borders will we be safe. Only when the drug cartels feel scared of what they will face in the USA as punishment is when they will stop. I am sick and tired of our liberal congress and President and people of this country trying to play nice. All it has done is harm this country. Put the full force of the USA military on the border without the liberal's restrictions and let the Mexicans and the cartels know what will happen if they cross us.

And to think many in our country doubted this woman's account......they should be ashamed of themselves!

Manuel October 18th, 2010 08:02 AM

Our borders are too large to patrol completely. And we will never be able to stop drugs from coming in. We send our soldiers into Mexico, some of them will be taking drugs while over there and others will get invoved in drug traficking.

Star another war that we can't win does not make much sense.
Many of the Vietnam Vets got hooked on drugs during the war.

I say legalize drugs and let the idiots fry their brains.

Lisa,

You are exactly right on target. Obama and the liberal congress just trying to "play nice" is not working and never will. As you said the full force of US military along with state militia is the only answer to save our country.

Call me a whiner, but I don't want to drive my car and wonder if the guy coming at me is high on drugs, because they are exercising some kind of "right" to do whatever they want. I don’t want to wonder if my doctor is exercising his “right” and is high on drugs. The desire to legalize drugs is nothing more than a continuation of the Obama pledge to "fundamentally transform this country".

We need to fight this war of drugs and illegal immigration the same way you should fight any war, with a committed strategy to win and do what ever it takes to preserve the hopes and dreams of future generations. With the election only one week away the US is tittering on the brink of a completion of the promised "transformation" or a return to the Constitution and the continued success this nation has enjoyed throughout its history.

If we want to see authorities beheaded and crime and drugs running rampant in the US then just doing nothing will certainly do the trick.

Thanks again Lisa, for your input and it is nice to see people who do not want to see this great nation transformed into something that our founding fathers would be totally against.

There are some people in this world that you can cite "chapter and verse " to and they will never be open to the possibility that their point of view may not hold validity .
