How does the spending habits of a few thousand soldiers overcome a debt in the trillions of dollars?

Total US foreign aid stopped dead cannot even begin to touch the interest on that debt. It's like trying to put out a house fire with an eyedropper. Plus, you still have to pay the interest while paying down the debt.

The only answer is much more drastic than that. There is no painless solution. Cut up the credit cards, and take measures to severely limit spending. We're seeing some of those measures already in Europe and the population does not like it.

Where did the latest stimulus money come from? It was BORROWED, or worse, simply PRINTED. If you print money without backing it with something tangible (like gold reserves) then it essentially becomes worthless.

A former drunken sailor once called a radio talk show and said that he resented being compared to the Congress. He pointed out that, unlike the Congress, a drunken sailor stops spending when he runs out of money.

I apologise for the unflattering comparison thus besmirching the character of drunken sailors worldwide.
