I have to say, I never entertained the thought of a barge cruise, but yesterday, I watched a show on the Wealth Channel, and, I was drooling.
This was a working barge from the 1930's that had been retrofiitted in luxe style! A beautiful deck, with a hot tub, bistro tables, and comfy chaises. It was cruising down the canals in the south of France, stopping at the most charming towns, for leisurely shopping, and, sightseeing.
There was a cook on board, with a small staff, and, looked quite comfy. The Captain was very knowledgable about the history of the area, and, accompanied the guests around, with a commentary of the areas...he was quite the charming host.
Of course this must have cost an arm, and, a leg, but boy it looked like a nice adventure.
Has anyone ever sailed this way,or had the desire to? As an armchair traveler, I just loved sailing along.......
Trip, with her book & tea!
